ecI havent had my period for over 4yrs now...??...

Okay back in the last week in Dec 2004 was the last time I had my period...I remember because I had Jaw alignment Surgery, and I was Like WOW what a great time to get your period! (I had just turn 17 on the 26th and had the surgery on the 30th. I'm 21 now) Oh and I was regular before.

Anyway about a year after that (Jan 2006) still not getting my period, I went to my doctor and she did some various tests and said my levels were normal and "to be glad I don't get that, dreaded monthly visit"   I went home feeling alright about the whole thing, and carried on with life.

Until recently I was talking with a few friends and it came up that I don't get my period....and they were all concerned that I wont be able to have kids, and that is not normal, and well that I should get rechecked...well being that I don't have insurance I decided to look it up on the Internet first.

..SO I need Some opinions here. Thanks so much.

You do not have to do any drugs, it shouldn't affect your periods any way! Its just that many people have irregular periods and from what I have heard and read, you should get at least 4 periods a year otherwise you might develop all kind of complicatoins...

Nope I am not on anything...I never get sick or whatever. and don't do illegal drugs, smoke, or drink...

And yes thanks both of u I will see to a second opinion..And the "doctor" I saw was a nurse practitioner soo its a no wonder...

You know, I never really put to much thought into having or not having children...but now that I think that choice maybe taken away from me....I feel like I really want them lol....funny huh.

Anyone else with anyother input please let me know...   Thank so much~Amber

Yeah, I am very surprised that your doc wasn't concern the first time when you said you didn't get your period for a year??? I had the same thing, and my doc put me on birth control to regulate my periods, and guess what? When I decided to have kids, my ovulation was way off and I had to proceed with fertility treamtnets in order to get pregnant..so yeah, its a big thing, not getting your periods and you should definately talk to a second opinion doctor. Perhaps, you will be prescribed birth control to regulate them..

i would definately get a second opinion , that dr should never have said just be glad you dont get the drraded monthly visit thats terriable , your friends are right to be concerned , i'm not a dr or anything but i'm pretty sure that if you dont have periods you wont be ovulating , therefore no you wont get pregnant , thats not to say you never will course not ,your young , theres lots of things to help , i'm sure some of the more experienced loveley ladies on here will offer there advice , but i would def get a second opinion ASAP  , i didnt have a period for 6 years but that was because i was on the deppo injection i had my 1st period within 5 weeks of coming of it was you on any kind of contraceptive ??? x
