ectopic preganancy and trying to concieve after

I had a normal pregnancy 10 years ago. I am 28 and my new husband and I were trying to conceive. I became pregnanct and started bleeding at 7 weeks.  I  called my Ob. I went into the office and was told I had an ectopic pregnancy. My highest Hcg level was 650.  I received 2 methotrexate injections on Monday and had Hcg levels drawn then. My Hcg levels were only 150 at time of injections.  I'm desperate to try to concieve again, but not sure how long I should wait, given the fact that my levels never reached 1,000.  I am hoping that we can resume trying after 1 cycle but what are the risks and what is the medically given time limit on this.  I want another baby so bad, but I am nervous and scared.  Please help!!

My re said we were fine to start trying again.  My ectopic/methatrexate was Jan 21 and last Wed. we did an IUI ????  Only two months????  She ran blood work to see if out of system.  Maybe it depends on how much/often you were given methatrexate??

i have hear that with the methotrexate shot you are not supposed to get pregnant for at least three months. because it can cause alot of problems for you and baby. i would definitely call and ask the doc when you can start trying again:) best of luck.

I had an ectopic in January.  I was also given methatrexate injection, but  my tube ruptured two hours later and I had emergency surgery.  My Hcg was 4000 the day before. I never bled, just had unbearable pain. I had a period again when my hcg level reached 0--about three weeks after the ectopic.  The only thing they told be about the methatrexate side effects were not to take any vitams until it was out of my system which was about two weeks.  I did go on iron supplements after surgery though because of the internal blood loss.We were able to start tying agin as soon as I had a normal period--which was my first period after.  I am hoping for a postivie next week, but still have some waiting.   Good luck to you.  I know it is a horrible experience, physically and emotionally draining, but you will get through it.  You are very fortunate not to have had surgery or loss of your tube.  Good luck to you!
