embryo quality

Hi,

This is my second IVF, last one failed. I have 33 years old. This time we had 8 embryos, they transferred at day 5th two,  graded as expanded blast( good) and the other one as early blast ( fair). We know since today that they decided no to freeze the rest of the embryos, we were really sad about that. Now I don't know if I have to be hopeful with the embryos they transferred. I would like to here any comments, thank you !

I was curious what were your numbers for your first round of IVF?  Did you have a 5 day transfer with 2 blastocysts the first time too?  This is my first go around and I'm hoping we are successful the first time, becuase I don't believe we'll financially be able to support a second time.  I too, have a 5 day transfer with 2 blast that reprotedly looked great.  We have our beta on the 12th.

I had a five day transfer of 2 blasts that were only OK quality. 4BB and 3BB.( I had a 3BC that they told me was not good enough to freeze) which gave me my son who is now 18 months. I think you still have a very good chance. Good luck.

Usually when they do a day 5 transfer, there are usually very few or no eggs left to freeze because only the best quality eggs make it. So you have the best quality embies which have a very high chance of attaching. I had a day 6 transfer, both embies were already hatching. I am now 29 weeks pregnant with my baby girl. I got pregnant with my second IVF. With this cycle there were no embies left to freeze after 6 day as well. My advise to you is to just take it easy, try to relax and don't really stress the two week wait. Are you planning on doing a HPT? I did one on the 5th or 6th day and had a BFP. Good luck and tons of baby dust your way:-)

Congratulations Lorane !!!! You just gave me hope, thank you so much ! Do you have any recommendation of how should I take care of myself the days after the transfer until the pregnancy test ??. My transfer was 3 days ago and the pregnancy test will be in 8 days.
And thank you Heather5 and Kricket212 for your wishes !!

I had too had a 5 day transfer with 2 blasts! I also had none to freeze which is not uncommon. Well happy to report I am not almost 8 weeks pregnant with TWINS!!!! This was also my second IVF so don't give up hope. Those blasts have a higher likelihood of implantation (trust me I know):

Remember that they transferred the two best embryos, so they would have a better chance than the remaining ones anyway. Best of luck and SSBD!

Kricket: Lots and lots of baby dust to you, too!!!

I am 38 & had transfer yesterday for my 2nd IVF.  I had three very good quality embryos & pray that they stick. (not blast)  This was 3 day transfer.
My first cycle ended in m/c iN Jan 2010.  I pray we both get positive beta.

As far as the eggs not freezeing. I am very sorry to hear that but hear it's very common.  Hang in there....You do have two great ones inside you now.
