I agree with jmorris30.My doc said the same.
This is a big topic for me because I thought that by exercizing while TTC would reduce the chance of getting pregnant, but I have gained a LOT of weight following this philosophy. I have asked 2 different RE's about this. One says that the body is very strong and so are eggs, embryos, etc and that working out while TTC is fine. My current RE says that they have done studies that show women who have had IVF and do exercise have a smaller percentage of success, and those who did not exercise had more success conceiving. Now, how does this apply to the average woman TTC or TTC with IUI (which applies to me), I don't really know, but I do take it easy with light walking now, instead of not working out at all during the TWW.
I just called my doctor being as though I'm 7 weeks, and he confirmed what I said. I guess everyone is different, and considering you have no preexisting issues, you can DEFINITELY work out, while ttc, and when you're first pregnant
I've never had to take any progesterone shots or vaginal capsules, so maybe that's the difference, I'm not sure, but I have two very healthy children, and mind you that was when I was VERY weight conscious and a work out fanatic, so needless to say I worked out during my ENTIRE pregnancy, before conception on, and they're fine. Since I'm not a doctor, I'd hate to give advice that can ultimately affect you, so I'd suggest speaking with your doctor because I've always been told that working out is actually pretty good for you....BY the way, my sister has 6 children and I can't tell you the last time she DIDN'T work out, and once again, all of her children are fine......so I guess it's one of those different strokes for different folks.
my doc told me to stop all exercise because it makes your progesterone low. if you get preggo and you exercise, you could lose it without even knowing you were preggo because your progesterone was not high enough to support it. you need to chill till you get preggo then exercise by walking after you get progesterone checked to see if you need supplements or not. i just got off progesterone shots and vaginal capsules because mine was low. im 11 weeks now.i canstart walking this week very easy though.
good luck to you and baby dust!!!
UGH I stopped working out because i didnt want to risk anything and miscarried anyway and now I'm pakcin on the pounds (same weight as I was at 10 weeks PG :O( I want to go to the gym but I would rather have a few extra pounds than worry Im affecting my chances. good luck ps my DR did say I could work out
i've been told that if you already exercise you should continue to do so and into your pregnancy, but if you don't, you shouldn't start once you get pregnant.
also.
don't overdo it, too much exercise is not good for ttc, as that can affect hormone levels. the most important thing is to find a balance that is healthy.
NO, exercising will not do anything to harm your chances at getting pregnant. However, once you're pregnant you'll need to stop the sit-ups, but walking, and other exercises are actually encouraged while you're pregnant. (do some for me too, LOL)
