Hi im 20 years old and for the last few years my periods first started becoming irregular and now i am lucky if i have any in a year. This first started when i was around 14 three years after first starting my periods, over these years i have steadily put on weight but when it first started i was about average. I have been with my present boyfriend for 4 years and have rarely used any contraception
(i know that may seem irresponsible, but we have our own home and a steady income) during this time i have never fell pregnant. I have been tested for PCOS but nothing showed on the scan and my hormones are nearly right, so my GP's doubt I have this. I was just wondering if you had any thoughts on what this could be? Thanks
I'm not sure what could be causing it.....It definately sounds like you've stopped ovulating if your periods are so few and far between. I wouldn't continue seeing your family
Dr, I would definately see a Gynacologist or Reproductive Dr to get to the bottom of it. If you've stopped ovulating they'll want to figure out why....They can give you pills to bring on your period and make you ovulate. Hope this helps!
Yeah I would not listen to your GP!! You need to see a real dr that knows PCOS. Lots of times when you don't ahve enough symptoms you can still have it! You are still young. WEight can casue you to stop you periods to as well as being underweight. HAve you search any signs of PCOS on the net? Do you ahve any of them? What about your thyriod? What blood work did your dr do and what were the results? I know none of us are dr's but we do however know about blood work and the normal and not the normal. Tina1111 has vest amounts of knowlege! best of luck and call your GP and talk to a nurse and ask for all the tests and results then get abck with us.
