fluid in ovary due to IUI?

fluid in ovary due to IUI?

Hi everyone.

I had a failed IUI done on the 15th. I went in for my ultrasound (day 3 of cycle) to see if I can do Clomid, trigger, and IUI this time. They noticed some fluid in my left ovary. Usually that's where a functional cyst is but they said no cyst, just fluid. The technition thought it could be from my IUI.

What would fluid be/mean? Could the IUI cause this?

Weird.

I'm no dr by any means, and I could be very wrong, but something doesn't sound right. Something would have to hold the fluid there, i.e. a sac. A sac on the ovary is usually a cyst. Also, fluid(seminal fluid)from the IUI remains in the uterus. The sperm themselves travel the tube to reach/fertilize the egg, but rarely does one reach the ovary(ectopic). Maybe the tech was referring to stimulating meds assoc w/IUI? Have you talked to the dr yet? Most times, techs aren't allowed to say what they see because it can cause confusion or they aren't qualified to make that call. I'd put a call in to the nurse and get clarification for sure. Let me know. This is a new one to me :)

Maybe they were talking about fluid around the ovary in general. Who knows? The nurse just left a lab message and said that the ultrasound was absolutely perfect and no cysts.

The only problem is that she put me on the same thing as last time--IUI and clomid no trigger. Hello, that type of IUI failed and we were supposed to up it a notch.

Grrr.

that just upsets me when they do the same thing they did last time that failed. Why won't they do a trigger this time or at least something different? I had the same problem with my doctor too. I have done the same thing 6 times and it hasn't worked either. You should really try to convince them to step it up. I think some doctors just like our money!

Yep. Got the trigger...or at least she said its' up to me. I want to talk with my husband about it but more than likely, I'm triggering this cycle.

As silly as it sounds, I"m scared. Anytime needles are involved, I just feel so helpless.I know it's nothing compared to constant shots like for IVF but it just freeks me out that this is what we have to do. Ugh.

A lot of times they won't rx Clomid for a few reasons. The main one being that your o'ing on your own and they see the follicles are doing great without it. Did they say the size or how many you had?

Healthy couples have about a 20% chance of conceiving each cycle. IUI is a bit higher due to the careful monitoring and washing of the sperm, etc. Don't lose faith. Sometimes it takes a few times. There are many here that had success after several attempts.

The first round was unmonitored. They feel that clomid and OPK is good enough. They only tested levels/looked at my uterus w/ ultrasound before they gave me clomid because I had a functional cyst that came and went. I'm fine now.

So now it's a monitored cycle with Clomid and trigger.
