follicular phase getting hard

follicular phase getting hard

Hi,
Okay I'm on cycle day 11 and was really hoping I'd be doing the trigger tonight...but I went in for my u/s and I had 5 follicles...17.5, 16, 15.5, 12, and 12. Lining...7.5 And NATURALLY I ran out of medicine so I'll have to get more today which isnt cheap.
Gosh, does anyone have any guess when I'll trigger? My RE does the trigger at 9pm then IUI 36 hours later.
I'd love twins but I'm guessing I'd need more follicles for that to be likely.
Also, my last IUI I triggered on day 10 and had the IUI on day 12..any guesses as to WHY this seems to be taking about 2 days longer?? Am I just getting impatient?!?!?

Did you do the same amount of dosage as last time?  The same thing has happened to me and the nurse had no explanation for it.  The first cycle I did 75 units a day and had 4 follicles!  The next time I did 75 units a day, I had to take 2 extra days of meds and then I only had 1 follicle!  It is strange how it works huh!  I also do my trigger 36 hours before my IUI.  Good Luck!

Yeah - I agree - can they increase the dosage for you for the next cycle? I always had my trigger shot done 36 hours before with IUIs and IVFs. Good luck ;-)

Well....I'm in the same boat Shayla.  Today is CD12 for me.  I also thought I was getting the trigger shot today but no dice.  You sound good though.  You have more follicles then me.  I have one that is 20, one 16.5, and one 15.5.  I'm not doing IUI though...we are just trying naturally this month.  I don't really understand the trigger shot thing...if you are doing it naturally.  They want you to bd right after trigger?  I thought about the twin thing too. I actually asked about it today.  He said that if you have more than one mature follie it's a possibility.  Sounds good for you...Follicles are 18-20 mm to be mature, right?

Hi... in all honesty, I think the body just does what it wants to on it's own terms.  =)
I had a similar situation.  Last cycle (using injectables, trigger shot, and timed intercourse) I took my meds for 11 days at 50 units/day... I triggered on day 12.  I had one follicle at 20 mm (and a couple tiny ones).  This recent cycle (using inject, trigger shot, and IUI) I had to take the meds for 15 days before I had one good 20.5 mm follicle (along with 2 smaller ones... 13 and 14 I believe).  It took forever for that 20.5 to get that big (but in the last 3 days, it jumped up drastically... 2 mm/day).  It was very strange how much of a difference there was between the two cycles (nurses had no idea what happened)... I think it just happens.

The good news though is that the numbers can jump up very quickly.   Your 17.5 could be a 20 in the next day or two.  Are you scheduled to go in for an ultrasound soon?

Good luck to you!!  Sounds like your doing good with that many follicles.

Okay this sounds stupid but injectables meaning HCG trigger or IUI.  I'm not doing IUI although the RE tried to convince me to.  I am getting the HCG trigger shot probably tomorrow but again I've been saying that for the past 2 days so who knows.  They are waiting for a couple of my follicles to mature.  I was also on Clomid days 5-9.
