i have had herpes since i was 17 i am currently only 4 months from being 25 my partner of 3 years had it and knew about it and never informed me i freaked out herpes actually has quite a bit to do with infertility an outbreak is not only on the outside if not caught early enough the outbreak can spread to your reproductive organs and scar them pretty bad which is what happened to me it caused me to have 2 tubal pregnancy which both ended in my tube rupturing and and ectopic procedure was performed i currently on have a tiny piece of one of my fallopian tubes remaining and after my last one i was informed that i only have a 0.001% chance of conceiving on my own and that i am a good candidate for invitro fertilization but i may possibly have to have a c section depending on if i am having an outbreak or not i have changed my lifestyle quite a bit and it has helped a lot stress can cause outbreaks and to this day i have only had 1 outbreak a year and i get my medication from a very discreet site online and have not given it to any partner i have had its not so hard to control at all

I've been looking for info on how herpes affects us guys who want to be fathers.  I just read about a study that says herpes can lower a man's fertility.  Maybe your soulmate has the virus and doesn't even know it.  I haven't found the answers yet about what to do in that case, but maybe it's a good idea for him to be checked out also.  But maybe I'm assuming too much.  p.s. maybe it would be better for everyone if we could work to make herpes less of a sensitive subject, altho I know the feeling.

Im sorry you are going threw this, but just as well as there is a site for m/c etc. there is a web site that is geared just towards herpes, i say that it the fact that im sure there are women on the site that can express there stories about there pregnancies, this is a great forum but i really havent ventured off besides pregnancy and m/c.  I think you would find it more helpful to chat with women who have herpes(real life experiences) for i can only tell you from a medical point of view and from what i have seen in the work place and the hand full of women i no that has it.   I will keep you in my prayers, send me a message if you need to chat, keep us posted on how your dr apptmnt goes.

Well on the subject of herpes, every person body will operate different.  Ive worked in a hospital and many women had herpes and were preggo, a lot of people have herpes and dont even know it, (1out of 5 people according to the CDC) some people will never no until they have an outbreak, partner has it or you actually ask your dr to test you for it.  If you go for a standard routine check up, they check you for all the common stds, the ones that can cause infertility and other health problems if not treated. chlamydia hiv ect.  The only concern drs have when it comes to herpes if you have an outbreak before delivery, they will probably do a c-section.  I think it may be something else why you are having difficulties.

Yes, you should mention it to the dr. all information that you give them helps them with helping you. Especially since you think that is a reason your not getting preggo.  You should right down questions pertaining to herpes and pregnancy to ask the dr so you dont forget.  Im a nurse and i always go to the dr with a list of questions to ask.  Also just try looking up herpes and pregnancy and im sure the majority of the sites you find will not say because you have herpes it makes if harder to get preggo.

yes herpes does make it harder for you to get pregnant.  talk to your doctor and they can tell you ways to increase your chances.  i have a friend who has it and her doctor told her that it makes it more difficult but it is not impossible,

I have a friend with herpes and it has nothing to do with you not getting pregnant.  Have you reached out to your OBGYN?  They should run some blood works and perform some other tests to see why you can't get pregnant.  If everything is normal, I would reach out to a fertility doctor for more help, as they will be able to help you better.  Good luck with everything.
