Hi Ladies......can anyone tell me if there is a bad side effect to the Ovudrel shot?  We're about to start our clomid and ovudrel treatment and I was wondering how that was?

I too am beginning the IVF journey.  I go for my last mtg at the clinic on Tues and start meds around Friday of this week! I am on the "short" 9 day protocol. We are also very nervous but excited!!!  Stacey- how much time did you take off of work after the transfer?  My re said 2 days should be good- does that sound right to you guys?  I wish you all BFPs and lots of success!

All the best:-)

I can completely relate to your fear. I have my ivf intake sched for the 20th. I dont really even know what they will be doing but it sounds so exciting! Basically I have surg sced for 2 27 to remove my endometriosis and they are getting me ready so they can start ivf right after the surgery. i am on lupron now, and i dont know what other meds they will start me on. I guess its going to be a little different then usual since i dont need any more ultrasounds or anything. I just am so nervous because i feel like i am not ready to face the reality if it does not work. I have so much faith but sometimes i think i am being unrealistic. This site helps give me hope. i love reading all the success stories. Good luck to us all!

I had the exact same fears.  After over 3 years of trying including clomid and failed IUIs I felt like IVF would be the end of the road!  But, we were so lucky to get our BFP in December after our first attempt!  We also did ICSI and assisted hatching which I recommend (considering it worked for us) and transferred to embryos.  Not sure if we are having one or two yet - my first u/s is on Tuesday :)

Rest as much as you can after the transfer.  Take time off work and think of being on bed rest.  I think it really helped us.

I have also known people to get their BFP on the second frozen transfers...so try not to get too discouraged if it doesn't work the first time.  The success rates are very high for IVF so chances are you will get your BFPs too!

All the best!!!

I'm getting ready to go through IVF too.  If everything goes well, we'll transfer in Feb.  I completely share your feeling of worry that it won't work and that we've gone through this extremely tough process with no results.  Infertility isn't fun; it's scary!  I hope that you find comfort soon, and try to stay positive that you will get your BFP soon!  If you ever want to talk, I'm here!  Megan

We got really lucky on our first ivf attempt.  Nothing else worked for us before.  I hope ivf works for you!

I too was afraid and to be honest our first attempt did not work...but I am currently 8 weeks away from having our son who was our second attempt and the pregnancy has advanced with zero complications. I didn't want to try again but the dr's had a wonderful plan the second time around and we were able to learn from the first attempt.

Good luck

Like Trudi said it can work on the first time.  It worked for me.  There are 5 of us on here that I know for sure it has worked for on the first time and 3 of which are pregnant with twins and the other 2 with singletons.  You just have to do exactly what they tell you and hope for the best outcome.  That part is out of your hands.  Also, don't give up if for some reason it doesn't work on the first try.  There are lots of women who it worked for the 2nd or third time so just don't give up hope and good luck!

It definitely can work the first time. My first IVF cycle resulted in a BFP and I have a dd now. My second IVF failed and with my third I am not pregnant with twins. I do know people who get devastated if the first cycle fails but you have to remember if you follow the doctor's orders, there isn't really anything else you can do to change the results. Some people get acupuncture but I didn't so I can't comment on the success rates. Stay positive and good luck!
