So after finding out everything was okay last week after my SHG, they call today and say that I have PCOS. It is not "bad" according to the doctor because I have no real symtoms (symptoms) besides little cysts all over my ovaries. So according to my nurse, I dont suffer from any symptoms and there is nothing to worry about, except, oh yeah, it is going to be harder for me to get pregnant and will "probably take awhile." This sucks!! Some of you may know that I have had a positive OPK now for three days that is not really fading, the nurse said that can happen with PCOS and that I probably wont ovulate this month. I thought everything was going so good, I was feeling releived after my SHG was good, now I feel like someone hit my with a semi-truck. My insurance wont pay for anything with infertility
, not the ultrasounds or anything, no everything seems so daunting. I have to go see a specalist next week to decide about Metaformin(ithink thats right) and clomid use. I am so pissed off, I feel like everything got snatched out from under me. I know there are several of you who deal with this and have for a long time. It is just so frustrating to find out that I have been trying for months thinking everything was fine and it was all a waste of time; I dont know what I can do to get preggo with PCOS, I dont know the options with PCOS, but I am afraid I wont be able to afford it without any type of insurance. Sorry for the pitty party
i am so sorry that you were given that bad news but from what i have hear the combination of those two drugs have helped many women get pregnant i hope you are added to the list.
I'm so sorry to hear that. It is like one fustrating event after another. I recommend getting as smart on the subject as you can. Especially since you have limited insurance coverage.
One thing to keep in mind, is that many woman have pcos and still get pg. It just means you may need a little help. These meds might be all your body needs to get you there. I'm not sure about the other med but clomid is pretty inexpensive. Hang in there. Sorry for your dad day.
My friend also has PCOS and after being on clomid the first month she got pregnant right away. so I do think you will get preg. and maybeyour insurance might cover it since your problem of concieving is due to the PCOS, I know my friends insurance covers it.
For some who have it, it doesn't take long to get pg, but for others it does. It is the reality of it. I too have PCOS and it took over a year of fertility meds to get pg. However, some can get pg with a low-carb diet and Metaformin alone. The reason I think it took so long for me was because I was not taking my Metaformin correctly. I was taking it all at night before bedtime where I should of been taking it with meals. When one of my RE's discovered this in October, he suggested taking the extended release b/c that I can take at bedtime which was a lot easier for me to remember. I started taking it in November, and in December I got pg. I really think that was it.
Don't fret yet, but you do need to get the Metaformin time. It is something you have to increase every couple of weeks to reach full dose and to see how your body tolerates it.
A low-carb diet is also very good for PCOS. Why? What happens is your body is having to use more insulin
to be used to let sugar into your blood cells, thus letting the hormones needed to ovulate produce. Like I said before though, it takes a little time.
It is frustrating, but many women with it get pregnant. I did not think I would ever even though I was told I would. I thought I was going to be the rare one and not get pg. However, I am now pg with twins. So it does happen :)
