Irregular periods may mean that you're not ovulating.  HAve you gone to an RE?

I also have irregular periods, and have been diagnosed with PCOS.  You should talk with your OBGYN and have them run some easy tests.  If you've been trying for two years then it is a good idea to have you and your spouse checked out.

Irregular periods would most definitely keep you from conceiving.  As minamichelle said it could be you're not ovulating.  I heard (but don't quote me on this) that if your cycle is less than 25 days long or more than 35 days long chances are you're not ovulating.  I would go see your doctor and find out.  They can run tests to see what's going on.  Good luck!

I also was convinced I had PCOS after having irregular periods (every 2-4 months), TTC for 1.5 years, but my husband and I continued 'trying' (at least 4x week), and I just found out I am pregnant! Even though I haven't had a period since May, and I tested negative July 27, I just tested positive on three tests yesterday (Aug 5). So you could ovulate, just not as often (as in, perhaps only 4 times a year instead of every month). Good luck!

I was irregular for the longest time , and recently after taking birth control it helped regulate them back on track and i get them every month now. I mean where your tyring it is a totally different case , but if your period needs a kick in the butt to get itself regulated i'd talk to your OBGYN and see what they can do for you , because that was my first step and it worked out for me. So hopefully it will for you.

Goodluck. *
