home insemination

I am trying to get pregnant with a friend of mine through home insemination.  Some places on the internet I have read that you need to wait 30 minutes for the sperm to liquefy before you can inject it.  Other places that I should do it as soon as possible.  He will come around to my house, so I will have the sperm as soon as it is out, so to me it seems unnecessary to wait.  I need advice on what is the most optimal thing to do?  And if I need to wait what kind of temperature should the sperm be in. Maybe I should put it in the bathroom where it is always very warm.

ici are completly safe to do at home.you dont puncture anything,we have had the go ahead from our doctor to do it at home for over a yr now. we were using frozen from a sperm bank that is delivered right to your door to be done as a home insem, found a known donor, had him tested and he sends me the sperm right from his house to mine in a shipper we bought from biotranz shipping,i know a bunch of ladies on another board that do it at home and alot of them are pregnant, go to nwandrology.com   join for free and  ask all the questions you want, they are very helpful ladies there.

Never, ever do an insemination at home. You could puncture something and have a whole world of trouble. IUIs at a doctor's office really aren't that expensive.

my DH and i are using donor sperm to get pregnant.we do home inseminations every month.we had or donor tested for all std's,home insemination is very easy,we use a syringe and deposit the sperm as close to the cervix as we can,but never go inside the cervix unless its in iui format.if you need more info, email me.

Hi Babyblue,

Home inseminations usually aren't with IUI, though you can order the cathedars off of the internet.  But, you can do a home insemination with any syringe and they sell syringes made just for home inseminations.  Some clinics even sell sperm samples to deliver directly to your door so you can inseminate yourself.  Though these are safer because the donors are screened for STD's and genetic disorders.   I hope C.A. has thought VERY carefully about what it is she's doing.

I never heard that you can do IUI at home. I think it's not wise.  You should go to the doctor and get it done there.  Also both ladies are right, what if the guy have STD or later in life he want to be a part of the baby life.  how do you handle that.  This is serious, not like you give someone money.

IUI cost about $350 including all the med.  please don't risk your health for that.  It's nice to have a baby but what if turn out to be not what you expected, then what?

Seek for medical advise before you start do IUI at home.

good luck to you and wish you all the best

No need to wait.  You can inject right away.  Waiting is for frozen samples.  But, yours is coming fresh so inject asap.   Jennjyfer is right though, has your donor been checked by a physician?  Have you seen an attorney?  There are not a lot of rights for you if your donor decides he wants contact even if he signs something by an attorney stating he obsolves all rights to the child.  Its a very risky proposotion.  Better to go through a clinic and let him donate there and the dr. do the insemination.  By having a clinic be the middle man, so to speak, your rights are much more protected and those of your child.  Good luck to you.

Home insemination unless directed by a physician is VERY dangerous, you can inject air and bacteria up into the vagina causing infection. Your "friend" could have unknown STD's as well. I would not  recommend doing this procedure at home! Contact your physician and ask them what temperature etc. No one on here should be giving you any advice like that. I wish you good luck getting pregnant, just hope you are going about it a safe way. Talk to your doc.
