how do I interpret my pelvic ultrasoun test result?

I am kind of worry and confused with my ultrasound test result. it says the right ovary contains simple cysts measuring 2.0 and 0.9 cm in size. the left ovary contains simple cysts measuring 0.7,0.8 and 0.5 cm in size. IMPRESSION: bilateral ovarian cyst. I asked my doctor if that is normal and she said yes. I have look for info in internet and it says is not normal to have bilateral ovarian cyst. HELP please! :(

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello!
Cysts are fluid filled sac like structures present on the ovary. Most women suffer from ovarian cysts anytime during their life. When the follicles are forming small cysts may be present in the normal ovary. These ovarian cysts which start during the normal function of menstrual cycle are called functional cysts which are of two types follicular cyst and corpus luteal cyst. Most of these cysts are harmless and disappear over a period of time. They are usually asymptomatic. In few patients cysts may cause menstrual irregularities, pelvic pain. In such cases medical help should be sought. Large cysts need surgical removal .In your case monitoring the cysts and a prescription of pain killer if there is associated pain are recommended.I hope you find this information useful. Do keep us posted.
Best wishes!
