Do most insurance companies require that your fsh be at a certain level before they will pay for ivf? I'm curious b/c right now we are paying out of pocket but starting Dec 1 our new insurance pays for infertility
I don't know about requirements because my employer opts out of covering any fertility treatment. Yay me. Paid 100% out of pocket. I'm sure someone one here is lucky enough to have it covered and can offer some input regarding specific requirements.
I wasn't aware of any restrictions from the insurance company for IVF. I thought it was only the RE's rules on whether or not he/she wanted to do it. Now I'm scared, as I want to do an IVF cycle by the end of the year if we're not already pregnant then. But I have a really high FSH. :( I pray my insurance company isn't one with restrictions. I had never heard that before now. And I would think my RE would have mentioned it during our discussions re: IVF and insurance coverage. I'm so nervous now! But I am glad you asked the question! :) Hopefully others know more about this subject!
I was wondering b/c someone on here mentioned her FSH and then said she got the go-ahead from the insurance company. I'm not sure if all or most or only a few insurance companies require it...
I have been lucky enough that my insurance company and my prescription coverage has not told me of any restrictions except the lifetime cap for fertility treatments. We did have to get prior approval for everything though. Hope this helps.
