hello,

i would try ghi, aetna and oxford. they have good infertility coverage. oxford i believe covers up to 10,000 lifet time max. if i were you i would check all the insurance carriers and see what they cover and  up to how much and how may tries. and if there is a pre-existing condition waiting period. i have ghi they cover 80% up to three tries of fresh with a frozen along with it. good luck!

Insurance coverage is not specific to the insurance company.  For example, two different people could have united health care, and one person could have coverage for IVF and the other wouldn't.  It is based on what the employer wants to offer the employee.   For example my DH works for a bank and he had an option of picking from either Aetna or UHC and both offered infertility coverage, but I work for one of those ins cos and they don't offer the IVF on my policy.

Just because you have BCBS doesn't mean you'll get IVF , it's based on yours or spouse's insurance.

I guarantee you cannot find an individual policy that offers benefits for IVF.  If you do, let us know.   But you have to work for a great company that offer's IVF.

Check out this link for employers offering IVF

I'm not sure where you live but I know I have great insurance.  If I need it I get covered for up to $50,000 for IVF.  I have the Empire Government plan...I live in New York...

It depends on what state you live in and who is your employer.  I live in Texas, one of three states that shy away from benefits.  From everything that I've read, New York and California are awesome.  If you are unable to get coverage use ARC.(www.arcfertility.com)  I use them...they have great packages.  They will help you every step of the way.

I looked at the ARC site, and it did not mention cost.  Can you give us an idea on this one?  And which package ended up to be the best option.... Thanks

Do you live in Illinois?  That is a state where they mandate infertility coverage.   that means any emplyer group there has to offer it to you.    There, of course, is an exception.  If the employer group is self-funded then they dont' have to follow state mandates.   If you're in a position to work then get a job with a company that isn't self funded.   I'll check later to see if you have any questions.  I can answer a lot of insurance questions.

I just read one of your posts.  If you're using the school insurance I'm assuming you're probably pretty young, now if you live in Illinois employers ahve to offer infertilty coverage.  So once you're DH is out there in the workforce then you can probably get some good benefits.

Also a lot of Individual policies will not cover your maternity benefits sooo be careful.

I did the one-plus cycle: One cycle of IVF, plus FET if not successful $9,120.00.  It pays for all doctor visits, blood work, and scans during the cycle.  They have other packages.  Some packages will give money-back if not successful.  There should be a number on the site.  You will be assigned to a rep.  They are very nice and helpful.  I did not get my meds with them....too expensive!  I order with ivfmeds.com.(suggested by my doctor)  Hope this helps.  By the way, I got my call today at 2:00.  We are pregnant.  This was my first cycle of IVF.  I tried IUI three times.

Here's the link again.   I don't think that the student insurance will cover infertility treatment.  I'm pretty sure that it just applies to employer groups....not military insurance, individual policies, or student insurance.

I think you might just have to wait until your DH is working and gets insurance through his employer.

At least you can be assured that you'll get it in the future.
