intercourse after hcg and before iui

my husband has a low sperm count and we are planning to do the iui next week and we were told to have intercourse after the hcg shot and before the iui day ,will that reduse the sperm count for the iui ,my husband will be abstinant for three days and if we do that the abstinance period will be around 12 hrs before the iui .do you  know what to do exactly ?and how long does the sperm count go back to normal?

we were told to abstain for intercourse for 2 days before iui to increase sperm count. and then to have intercourse 2 days after iui, Good luck
