Hi just want to say thank you
hi i am goinig for a ivf in the next two weeks so what will their to on the 1st day
thank you
In addition to ttrh0819's comment, there are a great deal of shots involved as well.
Our first step was an in-depth consultation with our specialist and nurse to understand the full process and what to expect and a great deal of blood work.
Meds/shots to shut down your natural menstrual cycle
Ultrasound to check all is ready to start stimulation meds
Start stim meds to help make your ovaries produce multiple follicles (hopefully containing an egg)
Ultrasound to check on follicle progress
May reduce/increase stims based on your response to them
Final scan to check if the follicles are of a good size for egg collection
All being well, booked in for the procedure to drain the follicles (you will be sedated or asleep for this)
Egg collection - on same day your partner will give semen collection which will be washed and only the best sperm will be mixed with your eggs to hopefully fertilize.
You may be a little tender following the collection, but can take it easy at home for a couple of days and drink LOTS of fluid - at least 2-3 litres a day.
Your clinic/hospital will call you with daily updates, initially the day after egg collection to advise how many eggs fertilized, and then updates to advise how the embryos are dividing.
Embryo transfer - this can take place 2, 3 or 5 days after egg collection.
And then the 2 week wait begins :-) Good luck with everything.
