How are you? Sperm counts often fluctuate due to factors such as improper collection, use of lubricants, presence of stress or illness. Two or more semen samples may be checked over time (usually takes about 40 to 76 days for a sperm to mature) to ensure consistency between samples. Additional diagnostic tests may also be done to look for the cause of low sperm count and other possible causes of male infertility. Treatment will depend on the underlying cause. With regards to supplements that may help increase sperm count or overall sperm health, not enough studies have been done and evidence is still limited.Certain vitamins, minerals and amino-acids such as zinc, selenium, vitamin E, vitamin B-12, folic acid, L-carnitine, vitamin C and beta carotene may also be helpful. It is best that you discuss this with your doctor first for proper evaluation. Take care and best regards.
