Hello - I'm new to this forum. I have a question about LPD - I have been trying to conceive for 16 months - I have been charting my ovulation with OPKs and I am consistently noticing that luteal phase is 10-11 days. After researching this topic, it sounds like this is too short. I am also learning that this is typically caused by low progestone. However, I had my progesterone levels checked and I was told they were fine. I'm wondering why I am noticing a short luteal phase if my progestone is fine? Could a 10-11 day luteal phase be causing me to have trouble conceiving?
-Thanks for the help!
Yes, a short luteal phase is a definite reason you are not conceiving. Mine is 12 days and my RE would like it longer. I think 12 days is the minimum. It takes a long time for the fertilized egg to travel and get implanted. What does your Dr. think? I have been taking Vitamin B6--it has lengthened mine by a day or two...one month it was 3 days longer.
Thanks for your help, I will look for that article
I talked to my doctor's nurse today - she said there was no problem with a 10-11 day luteal phase - she also said I should measure the luteal phase from the day I get my surge with the OPK to the day I start - this goes against what I've read - I thought it was measured from the day you would actually ovulate to the day you start... I'm not sure what to think..
again. Mine is always between 11-12 days and although that is not the ideal, my RE said that with some women you can actually have 8-9 days luteal cycles and still be ok. She is going to put me on Clomiphene next cycle if I don't get pregnant this cycle on my own (cycle 4 of trying since loss) to try and lengthen my luteal phase. I do know that you can get pregnant with a short luteal phase as I have done it three times. This last pregnancy I found out I was pregnant at 10 days past ovulation...meaning that baby implanted 3-4 days prior. It can happen!
