Hi there,

As promised i thought id let you all know how our second sperm test went!  There has been an improvement but unfortunately not enough and so we are now on a 6 week waiting list for DP to see a urologist.

His count has gone up from 2mil to 4.6mil and his motility has gone up from 20% to 46%.  So macca, zinc and wellman have definately helped but unfortunately we are going to need a little more help!!! :-( My partner did have an ear infection at the time he did the test but either way this probably wouldnt have affected it greatly especially when it was low before anyway!!!

I hope your all doing well, and i will let you know when we get our appointment and what happens!

Good luck

IVF WHERE THEY INJECT EACH SPERM TO EACH EGG..... You just need one little sperm to fertilize one egg

Hi there,

Im really glad you have started this post off.  I tried to a few months ago when we found out that my partner also had a low count but i had very few replies!  I couldnt find much support at all and so im pleased to have found this discussion.  My partner was diagnosed with a 2mil count 3 months ago.  The doctor told us to go away and try increasing vitamin dosage, not drinking, not taking hot baths, loose boxers and exercising regularly.  I have struggled to believe any of that will work especially to the extent to change a 2mil count to a normal range given that my partner never gets a bath as has showers and he goes to the gym every night and so is incredibly fit! The only thing he didnt do which the doctor suggested is take vitamins. So we've tried that for the last 3 months and he is due his next test anyday now.  We are unsure whether to put doing the test off until after christmas incase it is bad news but after reading mim181's post i may try and get him to do it asap so he cant get prescribed clomid too.  Im was so pleased to read her post, it really lifted my spirits and made me think that there is hope.

The extra vitamins my partner has been taken are macca, wellman and zinc.

I hope this helps, and it would be nice to keep in touch with you both.  I will let you know how we get on when we do the test so you know if the supplements he has been taking have worked!

Good luck xxx

My hubby also has a low sperm count...along with me not ovulating every month.  Our RE sent him to a urologist who did blood work and an u/s of his "parts".  Everything came back normal for him.  The urologist put him on clomid as a last resort informing us that it works in low sperm count about 10% of the time His count for IUI's was typically 5-7 million.  After a month of him taking clomid every day is count was 76 million!  We conceived our baby girl that month who is now 9 months old.  We are planning to go back to the urologist to see if he can get his Rx filled so we can start trying again (maybe with out the IUI's).  He said he did not like the way the clomid made him feel--moody- but after me doing follistim injections he sucked it up. The pharmisist also questioned me when I picked up the script saying clomid is a female fertility drug and didn't know why my husband would need a 30 day supply.  I had to tell him it was not of his concern and perscribed by our doctor!!   Might be worth a try.  Best of luck to you!

Hi there,
My hubby also has sperm issues. His count is high but many are sluggish. We are going to a specialist next week to discuss our options. He is taking a daily cocktail of several vitamins. A very high dose of vitamin C  2000mg a day, zinc 80 mg a day and multivitamins for men who are ttc. He has also stopped drinking caffeine and cut back on alcohol as well as eating loads of fruit and veg and taking exercise. They also say to avoid heat and wear boxers instead of briefs. I hope this helps a bit.
