Your positive ANA is actually considered negative at 1:40.
This is very basic medical knowledge!
Most Rheumatologists (the specialists who deal with Autoimmune conditions) will only consider ANA titres of
1:160 or higher.
It is likely a hormonal imbalance to my opinion.
I'm afraid the specialist you're seeing is missing something
very important.
You must rule out estrogen dominance-not necessarily excess estrogen- but an imbalance in the progesterone to estrogen ratio.
If this is the case, the "fix" is usually simple.
You need to avoid synthetic estrogen including xeno-estrogens from any source and supplement with bio-identical progesterone cream.
If your thyroid function is low, the conventional thyroid tests may not indicate this as they cannot detect type 2 hypothyroidism (thyroid-resistance).
It is critical to get Free T3, Free T4 and Reverse T3 tests.
In the event you do get pregnant, you risk passing this to your baby, if your thyroid function is not properly regulated.
Of course, besides being a factor in infertility, your general health would be also affected, since the body requires adequate thyroid function for just about everything!
The other thing to have checked is nutritional and mineral deficiencies.
Please let me know, if you have any questions, but certainly do post again, once you have some answers (if you decide to follow through with my suggestions), so I can offer you some specific recommendations.
Best wishes,
Niko
