This is my second round of clomid ( took 50 mg for 7 days - previous one was 50mg for 5 days, ovulated but no pregnancy) and the ultrasound on day 16 (my periods are longer than 28 days) showed a 19mm folicule. By the technician's calculations it was ready to release an egg in a day or two.
However, on the follow up ultrasound on day 26 the technician couldn't see corpus luteum at all. I have a follow up with my doctor this week and hopefuylly he'll be able to explain what is going on - but I thought it was really weird that there is no corpus luteum at all. Isn't it supposed to stay around at least until the period (if I didn't get pregnant). What can possibly cause it to dissapear completely a week after the ovulation?
The corpus luteum begins to die soon after the egg is released. If no Hcg is being produced from implatation to "rescue" it, it will be gone shortly after.
