ovulation and progesterone

this is my 3rd cycle on clomid 150mg, and i went for b/w on cd 21. my progesterone level was 1.4 this time and my doc said i didn't o because that was too low. i did get a positive opk on cd20 though. i'm confused, how could i get a positive opk and not o? is it possible to o and still have low progesterone?? or did they maybe test too early?

the special fertility doctor will help more.  mine helped me so much.  they just take the time to get to know you more and are focusing on you rather than 20 thousand other patients at one time.  if you get a positive OPK, then they should have tested your levels a few days after that.  maybe the RE will put you on progesterone like mine did to help boost your level.

Yes, seeing an RE will definitely help. I think a lot of regular doctors or OBGYNs just kinda have a set schedule for when all the tests have to be done, while the REs monitor you more closely to determine how fast your egg(s) grow, when you ovulate and when to do additional testing. Good luck!

i did tell the nurse at my appt last week that i had just gotten the pos. opk the day before and she said it was ok. the same thing happened the month before. pos opk on cd 17 and went in for b/w on cd 21. kinda frustrating, you would think the doctors would know this and want to be as accurate as possible! well next month i am starting a new doc (RE), so i guess thats a good thing!

Well, a progesterone level of 1.4 means you hadn't ovulated...yet. But if you didn't get a positive OPK until CD20, then I would think a CD21 progesterone test would be too early. Basically, the test needs to be done about 7 days after ovulation, and unfortunately, many doctors just assume that your cycle is "textbook" and that you ovulate on CD14, and therefore do the progesterone test on CD21. So in your case, I think they tested too early. Maybe you could call them and explain that you had just gotten a positive OPK the day before the test was done, and ask if they could do another test around CD28 or so.

Best of luck!
