pain after egg retrieval

Anyone have pain after the egg retrieval? My belly was sore, even when i urinated the few days prior to the procedure, but they said everything looked good. Now it is super sore. Ive been taking tylenol all day. They took out 23 eggs this am.  I have these waves of horrible cramps. I did have a lot of discomfort after my hsg as well but this is worse. Hurts when I pee, sneeze, laugh etc

Thanks for everyone's responses! I am feeling much less crampy today but do think that either the progesterone shots or estace/estradol tablets are upseting my stomach.  Lots of indigestion, irritable bowel etc. Anyone have these experiences? Congrats to Eri!

Is your pain severe?  I would consult with your IVF team if it is.  You want to be safe and remember there is the risk of hyperstimulation sydrome..

I think that is pretty common. I just did IVF myself at the end of March and have had cramps each day since the day of retrieval.....still have them, but I'm 5 weeks pregnant! Recently I've also been getting these "twinges" in the ovaries that really hurt for a few seconds. My RE said that is also very normal given our ovaries get somewhat traumatized from an IVF cycle. I think if you're doubled over in pain then you should consult with your doctor, but if it's mild/moderate then it's probably very normal. Good luck!

Hi Kim,
Wow, 23 eggs is a large retrieval.  I had 18 taken out 2 weeks ago and I was sore up until the day they put the embryo's back in.  It really did hurt, when the doctor called it a precedure, I thought when it would be done and over, boy was I wrong!  I was sore, almost like post surgery sore for a week.  It was awful.  Don't worry, Just take it easy it will pass.  Good Luck to you!
