pcos and trying to concieve

I have pcos and i am on metformin 1700 a day....my peroid come and go the most i have had regular is 4 mothis in a roll since i started the metformin, but I am still not ovulating i know doc tested my progetrin level i think and I didnt even register a whole number it was like 0.01 something like that he had me/ to come in on the 21st day something like that. can someone take birth control and metformin to conter dict the bc? i know i have high testosterone levels too. i want to try to do everything I can without using fertility drugs cuz I do gert cysy on my ovaries.and sometimes they dont go away. can my regular doc perscribe me progertion meds instead of my gyno? I dont have insurance and not much money and on budget right now any answers would help me out. maybe things over the counter that might try to help me out?

o ok...i just dont know who to talk to cuz everyone looks at me like i am stupid lol....im only 28 but want a child and thought bout doing the artificial incemination but not sure if the first time around would work or not and then what I dont like bout it that they dont check the people for as dieses goes or anything

Clomid is not expensive.  Here it was $30 for a round of 50mg.  Once you progress past the clomid it gets costly, but the Clomid itself isn't too bad at all.  I'd suggest talking to the dr.  there are supposed to be some natural options too but they cost more then the clomid did here.

no not on bc..im on metformin...but i cant afford the infertility stuff right now and thougt maybe there was something i could take or do to not have to go the fertility way...just yet.my cycles are still not regular and I am on 1700mil a day and i have been on it since oct 2010 i need something like bc to help with my periods more and help induce ovulation as well with out goin to clomid..is there any other options like the progestrin i might need...sorry I just dont know how to put this into typing lol

Sorry I'm confused.   Your taking metaformin to regulate your cycles, thats all it really does, but your also on birth control?   They would completely counteract each other.

Metaformin is used in PCOS to regulate your hormones so you get cycles regularly.  If you aren't ovulating while on it alone then then next step is normally Clomid.
