positive beta..low progesterone..help

well the nurse called today and ssid i had a positive beta..14 days past trigger but very low progesterone numbers..4.9..they upped the prometrium from 200mg to 1000mg starting tonite..they will see me wed morning..please any advice..can i sustain this? what else can i do? what causes the low progesterone?

My beta was today ,,i asked about the injections..they said start 1000mg today and they will see me wed and should see a response..she said it was a cautious positive..thanks.. i guess its good to know i can get pregnant..i just feel so scared...

Why aren't you on progesterone injections???  Ask your RE about it.  Maybe that will be better for you!  Congrats on the BFP!!!!!  Was your beta today?  This is good news.  Get that progesterone up!!

Hi, I just started posting on the forum.  I am so happy to hear that you got a positive beta today.  I also had my results but it was negative.  I hope things continue to go well for you!!

Finally somebody with a BFP.  YEPEEE!!!  I don't know what causes low progesterone but I know you need it to be a certain amount for the uterine lining till the baby's placenta takes over, usually at 12 weeks.  I was also taking the progesterone shots.  Are you taking a 200mg supp?  I heard one of the docs say that the supp might not register as high in the blood since it acts on the tissue directly.

I am taking 200mg...they are upping me quite a bit..i am trying to be optimisit but everything i read is scary..thanks to everyone for responding!

I really think you should inquire about using the injection.    Let us know how your pregnancy goes.  I am so glad someone got a positive today!!!

Yes you should get on the progesterone in oil shots.  When I was pregnant my beta on 14dpo was a 41 but my progesterone was a 2.5.  The day I tested I also spotted which they said was caused by low progesterone.  Well the injections got my progesterone up to a 45..(it needs to be above 20 in early pregnancy).  However, I did miscarry a 5 weeks even though they got my progesterone levels up.  My RE said that SOMETIMES not always, that low progesterone in early pregnancy can mean a bad pregnancy...but she stressed SOMETIMES!  I think that you're going to be on the good end of this:)  Please keep us posted!
