prochieve - spermicide?

what did you find out about prochieve as a spermicide? i am also concerned that i started too early and have decreased my chances of conceiving. i have been using prochieve 8% since day 19. and i feel like i just ovulated (again - from the other ovary?) on day 23!

my typical ovulation day runs from days 17-20. i took 50mg clomid this cycle (days 4-8) even though i regularly ovulate due to my age (44) and the lateness of ovulation. more details further down in entry.

ovulation at day 13 based on bbt. this was adjusted from day 17 which also showed a temperature spike.
opk indicates 8am positives since day 11*. my doc likes morning reading for iui patients.
i have positive 2pm readings on days 12, 13, 16, 17, 21-23*.
today is day 24 and i have not opk tested yet, however my temperature is slightly up from yesterday.i am not jumping to any conclusions as it will take a few days for the pattern to emerge.

*please note: i took a break from all opk testing on days 18-20.

i felt left sided discomfort around days 13 and 17; right sided discomfort (stronger) around day 23.

i did an iui on day 18. i don't have full confidence that it was timed correctly. my doc performs iuis after the opk positive. my positives typically coincide with the day of ovulation, hence the iui being scheduled for the day after ovulation. doc was not concerned about the timing. there was no blood work or ultrasound to confirm ovulation.

side effects of clomid 50mg - hot flashes and no cervical mucous.
i typically have painful ovulation. lasting up to 15 hours, but none on this cycle.
hot flashes - about 3-5 per day after completion of clomid. perhaps a result of my age?
used preseed for lack of cervical mucous. no robitussin as i have issues with artificial colors and saccharin.

full saliva ferning was on day 12; partial up to yesterday, with the exception of day 16. will check saliva later today (day 24).

for this cycle, i attempted to check my cervix. first timer - obviously i need a bit more practice. i rated it as high on days 14 through 20. i did not check on the morning after the iui. decided to give it a bit of a rest. after day 20 i gave up. i never could reach anything and chalked up my results to lack of experience.

i am not 100% sure that i ovulated. is software picking up false starts? lots of positive opks have led to suspicion. this has never happened previously, nor has is been looked at or diagnosed as pcos as this is the only cycle that several/constant positives have occurred.

any information or suggestions would be appreciated.
