Can someone elaborate on this for me. I dont quite understand all the medical terms.
If I was to cease taking the anti-depressant and my prolactin levels returned to normal am I likely to have problems with infertility
or is it only when prolactin levels are high?. This really worries me. I want to be able to have a baby in the future. I also have PCOS however it is the anti-depressant causing the prolactin to be high. Thankyou.
Hi masie91! Unfortunately I don;t know too much about high prolactin levels and infertility, but I've heard the same as you....that it can prevent pregnancy if not under control. I'm pretty sure it's just WHILE the levels are high, though, and that once lowered, your chances are the same as for anyone else (unless there are other factors involved, of course). As for the PCOS, your doctor will probably use medication to help you ovulate when you're ready to try to get pregnant. Lots of women on here have PCOS. Good luck with everything!
P.S. You could always bring this up with your OBGYN at your next yearly appointment. He/she should be able to give you a much better understanding of all this.
