prometrium question

I need to know if anyone has had a successful pregnancy using a progesterone supplement after a pregnancy has already occured.  I have read that it should be started after ovulation for it to be effective.  I was seeing an ARNP who specializes in fertility, then got pregnant and had a m/c and was seen by a doctor.  I called her nurse today hoping to get a progesterone level drawn based on my + LH surge and she told me the doctor does not check progesterone until after I am sure I am pregnant.  I am wondering if I should go back to the ARNP, but would like to know if prog. supplemention after a pregnancy has started is effective.
Thanks, this is a really great site and I will appreciate any insite I can get.  I just don't want to miss any chance of a healthy pregnancy.  Another m/c would be devastating for me!

My progesterone levels are low so my doc puts me on progesterone (prometrium suppositories) right when we do the IVF transfers and wants to keep me on them for 3 mos into a pregnancy.  It does help support a pregnancy with keeping the lining thick enough if you're having low levels. You may want to check into a fertility specialist if you haven't already. Good luck!

I was on prometrium for 10 weeks with this pregnancy. My progesterone level was pretty low.   I am now 29.5 weeks and everything has gone well so far.  Good luck!

you could do a day 21 draw on any month you are not pg to see if your level is above 10 if not you will need prog. in early pg.
