transfers. They want me to have one regular period before continuing. They said to call them with the start of my second period. On day two of my cycle I will start a med in pill form. I can't remember the name but they said it will prevent my eggs from growing and will help the thicken my lining. They will do a scan on day 10 or 12 to check the lining. If it's thick enough they will put me on progesterone suposotories. Five days later they will transfer the thawed embryos. I think it depends on the clinic. I asked this question a few weeks ago and one lady responded that she had to take shots. It probably depends on your doctor. I would call them to see what their procedures are. I wish you the best of luck.
I agree with crossingourfingers it depends on the clinic.
You can have a natural cycle (if you ovulate by yourself)or a medicated cycle.
I had a natural cycle in October that unfortunately was a BFN but there are a lot of ladies from this forum that are pregnant with FET!
Good luck,
Miky
Did a FET in November. I think different clinics have different protocols as mentioned. I did bc pill, medrol, pill for my lining. Then a estradial shot T/F; baby aspirin and progesterone shots, suppository added after transfer, too; the transfer was a breeze compared to the retrieval. Then w/ the FET I only had b/rest for that day and the next. We put in one blastocycst, our clinic after "defrost" grows them to blast, then transfers. Then take it easy until hcg test (no heavy lifting, exercise, sx). Really, much easier, other than the double dosage of prog shot because you aren't ovulating. Good luck. Sounds like you have some good numbers to work with! And from what I am reading, they are getting better and better at the defrosting process. We had 5 defrosted and ended up w/ one. We have three more to work with. :O)
Again...good luck!
I had FET done right after my failed fresh cycle. Should have waited but was too anxious. It failed. After that waited 2 months before another FET. During this time had accupuncture treatments. When I felt ready, dr started me on Asprin, estrace, progesterone, prometrium, doxycycline, medrol (don't remember on what day of period started). I had 2 blastocyst tranfered, they were grown to blasts before freezing. Both took. I am now preg 31wks 5days with twin girls. I strongly believe that accupuncture helped me. Have 3 more frozen embryoes. I have heard FET has the same chances as fresh cycles, but reading on this forum I think there are more women preg with FET. That could be due to the fact that the body is not in so much stress. Well it is a hard path but hang in there. be patient and believe. It will happen. Good luck.
Question...did you say your embies were frozen as blasts? I have some questions for you if you have a minute. We have 3 frozen blasts we want to try on my next cycle...
THANKS!!! :O)
yes my embryoes were blasts before freezing. And they thawed perfectly. There were no problems. I have 2 uterus and because of the uncertainty of how much the uterus will stretch during pregnancy, and to give a greater chance of implantation, dr, hubby and I decided to go for the blasts.
Thanks so much for the information. I have been doing research, because I have heard that the blasts don't defrost as well...which doesn't make a lot of sense to me since they are the strongest of the embies. My clinic even says so...but has been saying they are getting better w/ the defrosting procedures. It is a really good clinic w/ great success rates, so I was just a bit confused. After our last FET transfer came out w/ a m/c we know this is it w/ the blasts. When we did our first FET they defrosted 5 and we ended up w/ one good one that went to blast and we put that one in.
Thanks for easing my mind a bit...I will research more, but we are going to go for it and whatever happens...happens!
How many did you defrost and put in (if you don't mind my asking) :O)
did the quality change at all? on my other FET they were good as frozen, defrosting the quality went down a bit, then one went to blast and we put that one in. Just curious if the blasts do that too.
Thanks so much for answering my ?'s. Knowing someone who has done it helps a lot. Of the people I know who have done FET, none have used embies that were frozen as blasts.
OH...and big CONGRATS on your success!! That is wonderful!
Hi, my husband and I just went through our 3rd transfer last friday. We had these last three embryo defrosted from a cytoblast phase and they turned out great. Our doctor said that there is not much difference between a three day or five day freeze. He was the leading IVF specialist at the University of Washington and has people come from all over the world to see him. Him and his wife (embryologist) actually went to Europe 12 years ago to learn this technique. You know how more advanced medically they are than us. I also recomend accupunture, I had it on this last transfer, it calm the nerves and the uterus, I will let you know next week if it was helpful. Dont worry to much about the FET, it will go great, and as my doctor tells me, "there is nothing wrong with you, it is just a matter of which embryo will pick you". Good Luck.
thanks for the "positiveness". hearing about the blasts from you and tima help ease my nerves a bit...and like you said...it will work if it is going to!!! hope you get that BFP!
what went on w/ your first 2 transfers? sure hope this one was/is successful!
thanks again both of you, ferry and tima! hopefully we will get some good defrosted results! have to wait until AF comes to get this cycle going...it will be our final one, so hoping, hoping for some good results! oh, and i did acupuncture on my 1st retrieval/transfer. i just didn't like it....don't know why...but maybe i should try again...couldn't hurt!
