question about follicles for IVF

Hi all, I am going through my first IVF cycle and this whole follicle shmollicle thing is so confusing.  The u/s tech is only measuring follicles that are greater than 10.5...I know that I have 6 that are getting close to mature (measuring around 15).  BUT, I had one nurse tell me I had 11 and one nurse tell me I had 26.  I am confused.  Do they only retrieve only the largest ones?  Will smaller size follicles fertilize?  The good news is that I am not in any discomfort...which is a huge plus.  Looks like retrieval will be Friday or Saturday...

Hi Andrea

With me, they measured about 15 follicles (day of trigger) ranging from 12-17mm. At the retrieval they got 12 eggs, 10 mature and the other 2 werent. I believe they get everything they can but only the mature ones are fertilized. I hope you get a BFP soon.

I believe RE tries to get as much as eggs out of the follicles but only the mature eggs (17mm-22mm) can fertilize.
Good luck
