I had a question about a comment you posted but didn't want to take over someone else's thread.  You said, "if they time it perfectly and you have at least 3 fully mature eggs your chances are great."  This caught my attention because my RE won't even do the IUI if I have more than two mature follicles and gives me VERY minimal meds to limit the number of mature follies.  Only 12.5 mg of clomid. This frustrates me because I only have one tube, so I can't help but think if he gave me more meds, I would have more follies and at least one on the same side as the tube.

How many follies do you usual have in a cycle?  Are they usually all on one ovary or on both ovaries?  What kind of med are you taking and at what dosage? Hope you don't mind me asking.  Hannah

One more thing...my friend has a tube blocked and did IUI. She had a total of 5 mature follicles.  2 on the side that wouldnt work (blocked tube side) and 3 on her good side.  She now has an 8 month old daughter.  You may need to be more aggressive if the clomid doesnt work. My RE definitely says 3-5 eggs are the best odds for 1 taking with a 25% chance that 2 could take.

I only did one round of clomid at 50mg for 5 days.  I think that I produced 2-3 mature follicles.  That didnt work (and my RE said that clomid isnt that great with IUI)...so I moved onto injectables.  I have a higher FSH so I need more drugs to get a good amount of eggs.  The first time (2 months ago when I got pregnant) I had 3 mature follicles at 19mm, 19mm, and 20mm when they triggered.  I got pregnant and miscarried.  This time I had 6 mature follicles and am pregnant with a singleton however I've been spotting so I'm not sure if I'm having another miscarriage or not.  I've been to two RE's now and they both said that 2 doesnt give you a great chance for IUI...you need at least 3-4 mature follicles.

Thanks for the info.  I agree with you on being more aggressive. The only problem is my RE is so stuck on not producing over two follicles.  He also feels that eggs from the right ovary will travel to the left tube. Everything that I read on this says it is possible but rare.  This cycle, I did IUI with two follicles on the side without the tube.  I'm hoping for the best, but I really think it will take a miracle for it to work.  I'm soooo far into the process, I really hate to change REs and he really is the leading RE in this area.  I also know him outside of the medical relm, so it would be awkward if I switched.  I think he will get me pg eventually but I'm hoping to have more than one in my life time so time is a wasting.  

I just found out that my insurance will cover the cost of injectables, so I think I will tell him I want to move on to injectables this next cycle.  Did you have to sit out a cycle before you started the injectables?

It's up to your doctor (about sitting out a cycle)..but I think you could start right away.  Injectables work much better.  Go to IVFmeds.com.....you can get repronex for $12 (generic brand)...injectables are very expensive.  Good luck.
