should i get my hopes up?

I have only been off my period for 2 days and suddenly today i woke up to sore achy breasts that are producing milk.. could I be pregnant? Does that happen so early in a pregancy? I have also been babysitting a new born for about a month now.. could that make me produce milk? Which is more likely?

i am sorry if we missunderstood eachother. the milk in the breast might start later on in the pregnancy because its the build up of hormones i am guessing. but after 3 days, its too early. i havent heard anything about people starting milk from being around a baby. thats weird. i seriously doubt you are pregnant and i know its hard to wait to take a test. it sucks. but hang in there and the best thing to do is talk to your doctor. and i copied this out of a research: hopefull it helps.

Some women do experience regular breast pain associated with their menstrual cycle - this is called cyclical breast pain. Non-cyclical breast pain has no relation to the menstrual cycle and is more often associated with menopause, occurring in women between the ages of 40-50. It is not a typical symptom of menopause, but leaking breasts do happen for some women experiencing the early signs of menopause. Breast pain could also be caused by an injury.

Most nipple discharge is completely harmless and is associated with hormonal imbalances, something that occurs quite frequently throughout a woman’s life. This could occur because of certain medications, thyroid problems, or (rarely) tumors. If your breast discharge is worrisome or if you experience the following, you should see a doctor:

·        Discharge on only one side of breasts (one breast)

·        Blood in discharge

·        The discharge is sticky, brown, or off-colored

·        Is a fluid besides breast milk

·        Appears unexpectedly without stimulation

i wouldnt even suggest a blood test. its too early. you havent even ovulated to get pregnant yet. and a blood test could detect pregnancy 7 days after your ovulation date. start trying to get pregnant on the 14th of this month.

no way youre pregnant. you cant get pregnant even on the day that you stop bleeding. milk doesnt mean anything.

well looking at a calendar, I have stopped bleeding for actually 3 days and but I started (septemeber 30) my periods are long.. so i was wondering if I could have gotten pregnant like THE DAY I stopped bleeding( which would be day 9 or 10 of my cycle) and if so,, would this be a sign- sore tender breasts that leak milk.. and if it IS a sign of pregnancy could it happen SO early? I can't take a pregnancy test until I've missed my period right? Or at least further on. So THAT is why I haven't taken a test yet. I won't have another period till HAlloween. Everyone that i talk to says that the breast soreness IS a sign but the actually MILK is NOT and so I was wondering if anyone else had a different view or ever heard of it, this VERY not normal for me.. never sore, never never have milk... THAt is why i asked on a forum and not taken a test yet... I now have a doctors appointment first thing monday to see if I have a tumor...I also was curios if anyone has ever heard of babysitting a newborn could all the sudden make you produce milk.. just by holding it and it crying? I'm just trying to find answers..or possibilites.

lol.....boosty I kept scratching my head with the same big question mark as you!

You are no pregnant if you just had your period 2 days ago..........and if you have doubts, i would  take a test instead of ask in a forum......i guess im more impatient tho....and want concrete answers right away. That, would be your answer.

i dont get your question. you stopped with your period 2 days ago? adn you think youre pregnant now? how is that possible? you ovulate 10-14 days after the first day of your period . so you havent even ovulated yet.

Yep. It sounds stranger than it is. Her youngest is 7 now. Every cycle.  I always thought it was weird, too until I saw a post on it on the maternal forum about 8 mos ago. Many women said they have the same situation. I imagine it has something to do with prolactin levels as well as proestrone trigger the effect. After all, it is progesterone that climbs with the hcg when pg. I suppose if you had naturally higher levels of progesterone during the leutal phase, it could cause the glands to respond until they figure out that you're not pg.

She leaks when she is not pregant, just going through her cycle? I have had one child but only nursed for only 6 months and he is now two years old, so i'm trying to figure out if this could be a sign of pregnancy(hoping) but now i'm really worried that it might be some wierd complication. It is a small amount of milk and i don't leak, only when pressed on will milk come out.

If you have had children, it is not uncommon to produce small amts of milk after o or af due to hormone surges. I have never made it full term and there are occasional cycles where I leak a little. My sister has had 3 children and says she leaks every cycle.

Is your pregnancy test positive? I don't think your breast can produce milk while you are pregnant or not pregnant.  Usually I thought breast milk produce after you give birth.  Could it be an infection?

I found this on the website:

Producing milk is a sign of hyperprolactinemia, over-production of prolactin, the hormone which stimulates milk production. May be a pituitary problem, not usually serius but needs treatment.

maybe you have to make an appointment with your dr.
