starting clomid..please help

Hi everyone, can someone please help me??? My husband and I have been trying for a baby for 4yrs now without success, I have had loads of test done that came bk clear but blood tests show I am not ovulating and I have to take provera to provoke a bleed. My specialist has now prescribed me clomid 50mg to take days 2-6 for 3 months frm my nxt period. I also have to go for blood test on d21 to see if I have ovulated and if not they will up my dose after the 3months. What im wanting to know is, what are the best days to take an ovulation test and also a pregnancy test as they advised me to stop taking the clomid if I get pregnant but unsure of when to test. I'm really hoping this works as nothing else to try apart from ivf and apparently i dont fit the criteria to get it done on the NHS. Please can someone give me some advice?

Hi, I was on Clomid 50mg on alternate cycles. Normally Clomid tends to regulate cycles so I would use OPKs from day 9-15 just to make sure I am not missing out. Also start BDing every other day from about day 9 too. Are you taking your temperature right now as well? If not I would start that too because after a couple of months you get to learn how your body works and that's amazing.
OBGYN will find out with the blood tests whether this dosage of Clomid makes you Ovulate as that is the most of important.
Just after 2 cycles of Clomid I got my BFP!!!! So there's hope and wish you and your husband all the best!!!

its OB/GYN I am seeing she is monitoring it but not checking for another 3months once I have finished taking the 50mg clomid she has prescribed, but I go for blood test on d21 to see if I have ovulated. I wish I has asked these questions of OPK's and things with the OB/GYN but I must admit I was just chuffed she seemed to be now doing something after all this time and it just slipped my mind. Im grateful for yours and everyones help tho, THANKYOU

Well... you take Clomid from day 5 to 9 of the cycle then you get "bussy" for few days (day 10 until 19 of cycle, every other day.....get the ovulation test over the counter to make sure you do it before ovulation... about two days prior to two days after... you won't miss it if you have intercourse every other day after your day 10 of the cycle) and then you do hpt on day 30 of the cycle. Please see a fertility doctor. They should tell you exactly what to do,,,, step by step.

Are you seeing a fertility specialist or an OB/GYN?  I would think that if you are not O'ing on your own, they would do a little more monitoring to make sure that you do on the Clomid.  If you don't O at 50mg on the first cycle, then they can up it for you.  I agree with Hopeful of starting OPK's around CD12.  Have you also thought about taking your BBT?  That can be very insightful as well.

Also, I have heard LOTS of success stories of women who don't O, but then do on Clomid and get a BFP!

GOOD LUCK!

I just took Clomid for the first time this month.  My doctor told me to start using OPK's CD 12.  I've been told it may make you ovulate later.  I ovulated I believe on CD 17/18- because of the pains I had.
