My first cycle, I did a week of Lupron 10 units and then dropped to 5 when we started the other stims and I had horrible night sweats, which isn't anything to really worry about, it's just annoying. My second cycle, we didn't do the week of Lupron 10, just went straight into the stims and Lupron 5 units and I didn't have nearly the same side effects. Just a few mild night sweats. So, I think it just has to do with teh dose and how sensitive you are to it. Other than that, it's not a difficult drug...and, it was my "favorite" (if you can have one) shot b/c it hurt the least!
Try not to worry...just keep thinking about the end result and the beautiful baby(ies) you are going to get from all of this! Trust me, my #1 fear is needles, I am terrified and I have completely had to face that fear in the last 2 years, especially last 6 months. But, it's worth it...I finally got my BFP last week! Good luck to you!
Thanks everyone. I am going to write all my questions down before going in to see the dr. so I don't forget anything
I did not respond to Lupron. On cycle day 10 I think my estrogen crashed and my follies did not grow at all for the two U/S appointments before that.
I did way better on Menopur/Bravelle. One cycle was 7 follies and the other was 13.
I do not remember emotional or side effects for either. The only drug that ever made me a basket case was Clomid.
Good luck, relax and just keep asking questions :)
I suffer from depression off and on as well and the long Lupron protocol did not affect me at all. I started with 25 units for 12 days, then dropped to 5 units when the stimulation injections (Menopur and Follistim) began.
Same with me started with Lupron 20 units until I started stims then dropped to Lupron 10 units .. I felt fine the entire time maybe one headache but that's all .. Don't stress and take it day by day!
I can't speak to the depression but I was on Lupron 10 days prior to starting hormone injections as well as during my IVF cycle this month. Started at 10 and dropped to 5. I found the first week to be really easy, no side effects, felt fine. The second week I experienced a few hot flashes and one night woke in a cold sweat but that was it. I felt it was entirely manageable. Everyone is different but your doctor knows your health and should be able to tell you what you can expect. Best of luck to you. I know it's all very overwhelming.
