temp question

I'm confused about body temp. Is it normal for your body temp to go up 2 99.4 or 99.8 in the afternoon until you get your period??? My temp is up a week after my period and stays that way until I get my period.

Thankyou for your help

99.4 is pretty high...but when it comes to BBT charting, your temperature has to be taken at complete rest. That's why you need to take your temperature in the morning, right as you wake up (before doing any type of activity). During the rest of the day, your temperature is affected by activities, eating and drinking.

As for your temperature being up a week after your period until your next period starts, that's normal IF you mean a week after your period ENDS until your next period. If it goes up a week after the first day of your period, on the other hand, that's not normal. Basically the first two weeks (from first day of period until ovulation), your temps are lower, and then for the last two weeks (from ovulation till your next period), your temperatures are elevated.

Hope that makes sense...
