thin uterine lining

hmm today is cd11 and went in for us and bw to decide when to give trigger shot and do iui.. good news is my e2 was 632 bad news is my lining is only 3 (should be at least 8) i am scheduled for trigger shot on wed night cd 13 and iui on cd15 (usually we do trigger on cd11 and iui on cd13) hmm i'm afraid i will ovulate early or that my lining would not even support implantation.  btw this is a side effect of clomid and it can affect ur lining 6 weeks after last pill grr... any suggestions on how to qiuckly plump on that lining.. or  any succes with a lining as thin as mine....

Thanks sunshine!

I went to a naturopath around Christmas and she prescribed some sort of concotion to me that had chasteberry in it.  I took it for a couple of months and then I read on the bottle that i was only to have been taking it for 6 weeks.  I know it sounds horrible, but i never went back to see her because she wanted me to do some sort of heavy duty cleanse that I just didnt want to do.

Maybe it's time to pay her a visit again.  I have almost a full bottle of the drops she prescribed but I dont want to start taking them again without consulting her first.

I will give her a call tomorrow!

Thanks for the info, I do appreciate it.

PS - I dont think i was ever normal after  going off BCP 2 years ago.  Wish I had dealt with this back then - but who knew??!!

I had a very hard time after getting off birth control.  I had a thin uterine lining, spontaneous lactation and major mood swings! My Doctor said I would have a hard time getting Prego (I was only 25!).  He did not offer any alternatives.  I moved and my next GP recommended an herb called Vitex also called Chaste Berry.  I don't know if it if for everybody but it is known to be very gentle.  It might be worth asking your acupuncturist about.  I took in liquid form as directed and within 6 months my periods returned to normal, my lactation stopped & I felt all around better.  I got prego & my daughter will be 7 this year.   Like I said I don't know if this would help in you situation but I really do give this herb (and my husband of course) the credit for my 1st pregnancy.
Hope this helps a little.  I'll keep you in my thoughts.

Thank you for the response.

I know that most people say that Clomid lightens their cycles, so I dont know what the logic is behind that.   I am pretty frustrated.

I have emailed my acupuncturist, who is also a MD just to see what he thinks.  Unfortunately it is not easy to get a second opinion when dealing with specialists in Canada.  They are few and far between, and in order to see a specialist, I would need to go back to my regular doctor, get another referral, and then go on a waiting list.  Nothing is simple.

I will wait to hear back from my acupuncturist - maybe he can shed some light on this, or maybe he can refer me to another specialist.  Maybe even a plain old gynaecologist would be able to help.

So by the sounds of things you are saying that you have heard that 7 is on the low end of normal?  That would make me feel way better!

I went to my R.E. a cpl of weeks ago and mine was 7.8 which was good but I didn't have any mature follicles to get an HCG trigger shot. I think 7 and above is a good number for the lining. I have not used clomid but I've read a lot of posts frm women that say it thinned their lining. Have you read all the posts in this thread? I have never head of clomid thickening the lining even my R.E. said it thins it and could possibly make the cm hostile. Maybe you should get a 2nd opinion or maybe your doc is write. Idk hopefully you find answers. I know their doctors and we're suppose to trust them but their not always right some do make errors. It maybe that he wanted it above 7 and was disappointed by the number.
Good Luck!!!!

Hi Ladies.

I went for an ultrasound and had a rather disappointing visit with my RE.  He said that i am for sure ovulating - I had one follicle at 20mm.  What disturbed the doc is that my utering lining was only 7mm.

I had a the feeling that it might have been on the thin side due to my light periods.  I have been seeing an acupuncturist and for the first time in years I actually had a HEAVY AF!  So i know that my lining is increasing.

After giving me the bad news that it was doubtful that 7mm could sustain a pregnancy, the doc then patted me on the knee and said "since you are not getting any younger, I would like you to have a laparoscopy sooner rather than later." (i'm 36)

I told him that I am not desperate at this point and that I have decided to get the Lap done in the fall if i am not yet pregnant.  He gave me a prescription for Clomid too and told me that i could take it when and if I felt that I wanted to take that step.  He said sometimes it will thicken uterine lining, and sometimes it will thin it - but we wont know until I try.

I'm pretty disappointed about this whole thing.  Maybe someone can tell me.... is 7mm really that thin?  Is there anything, other than acupuncture, that I can do to increase it?

Any advice would be really appreciated.  I feel hopeless and very, very down.

I have no clue about the pressure point for fertility. I feel really stupid I just realized that I have been taking metformin incorrectly and I don't know if it is affecting my results. I have been taking 1500mg once a day but it is not the extended release form. Apperantly I'm supposed to take 1000mg with one meal and 500mg with the other. So I started that to day hopefully it didn't affect anything greatly. I was looking up the half life and I found that the blood half life is 17.2 hrs or something like that. Does any one know what the effects are if you get a trigger shot of hcg but you do not have any mature follicles? And also if you don't have any mature follicles will an OPK show that you are ovulating? I guess I mean will you have an LH surge? What is pre-seed? mrs_hynes femara is available in Canada but I do not know if they would prescribe it to you talk to your obgyn. Femara is used to treat breast cancer in women but can also be used for infertility although its not approved by the fda. Here's a website for you to check out www.hc-sc.gc.ca it's about femara in canada.

Hey there,

I am on clomid and have been for a few cycles. However it is likely thining my lining. I understand that femara doesn't do that but I don't think it is available in Canada. I am taking the baby aspirin 81mg daily to help increase the blood flow to the uterus and thicken the lining. You can also try Prime rose oil or something like that. I am pretty trying anything. I have pre-seed for this cycle, help give those swimmers a pretty chance!!

I'm new to the ttc world and wanted to know what does e2 mean? What does taking baby asprin do and how much of it would you take? I went to th R.E. yesterday and had my u/s she said I had plenty of follicles but they where small. What did you do that helped increase your follicle size? I'm on femara2.5mg and metformin 1500mg. She increased the femara 5mg hoping that would do the trick and when we're postive that I ovulated I'll get a hgc trigger. Have you tried femara I've read up on it and it's not suppose to thin your linning like clomid?
Any response would be great.

Yeah, I think the baby aspirin is a great idea.  I double-checked with my RE's office & they okayed it for me.  I was taking it just from O-AF, but the cycle that I got my BFP, I was taking it for the full cycle, so who knows if that helped?!  Before that cycle, I also started exercising & drinking a lot of green tea & Fertili-Tea, which you can buy online.  When I mentioned taking estrogen to my RE, he said that would be counter-effective??  I'm not totally sure why & maybe that's just in my case, but yes, you would need a prescription.  It's worth asking for :)  Progesterone suppositories also helps post-O.  Good luck!!!

What about taking estrogen supplements i.e. Estrace?  I don't know if you can take it in conjunction w//clomid but it'd be worth asking - good luck - jen

I am going to try baby aspirin this cycle. Have you heard anything about this? I am going to try it this cycle. I figure it can't hurt. So I am going to try the tea, the aspirin and massaging the accupuncture point for increasing blood and these rest is not up to me.

my progerterone is good too and my af before clomid was very heavy too now barely there. my doctor said he has heard of iui done on people with uterine thickness still a 4 or 5 but there's an increase risk of mc with anything less than 7.. the whole thing is soo confusing... thankyou for the rasberry tea, i will try that..  i also heard pineapples and no  simple carbs or sugars no white bread etc. lot of friuts and veggies an no coffee or soda.  i will try all of these in the next few days to see if it makes a difference.. i was thinking implantation does not occur till 5 days after ovulation and lining increases by a point a day maybe it will be full thiickness in time of implantation or does that change once u ovulate hmm

I was also going to ask the same question. I am taking clomid and noticed that my periods have become a lot lighter, less days etc. Now that being said I use to have very heavy AF and now not so much. I know it is the clomid.

Anyone have suggestions? I know that take progesterone can be a cure. However, my CD 21 progesterone level is between 3-60 and which is good so my doc won't give me progesterone. I have heard raspberry leaf tea can be good. anyone know anything else?

I'm sorry about your lining. I know that's frustrating ;( Mine has never been thicker than 5mm even on the day of iui. I did get pregnant once on a natural cycle, but later m/c'd. Although I think my thin lining is an issue for me, my doctor also told me about a patient of his with a lining around 5mm who had a successful pregnancy with triplets. So, babyblue's lining below 1mm would definitely be a concern, but your lining will thicken 1-2 mm per day, so there is still hope. Keep my triplet story in mind as your inspiration ;) & best of luck to you!!!

My experienced on the thin lining... Most doctor will not do IUI if you lining is less than 7... If your doctor still doing the IUI even though he/she knows the lining too thin.. then you must double check on these doctor... One time I wanted to do IUI and my doctor didn't do it because she told me my lining is too thin.. I think it was .57 or something..  I asked her why she said there is not enough wall for the egg to implant.. It's waste of money and She didn't have a heart to do that when she know it's no success for IUI....

Just want to share with you on this...

good luck to you.
