syndrom (syndrome) (PCOS) several years ago. Cysts on the ovaries as well as missed or irregular periods are definitely symptoms of this syndrome along with excessive facial
resistance, problems with fertility etc. Of course you may or may not have this syndrome as there are many reasons why our periods might be irregular but it definitely sounds like you could very well possibly have PCOS. I would recommend seeing a very good OB/GYN who would in turn do some bloodwork and maybe even a blood glucose tolerance test to tell for sure if you do have PCOS or not. My OB/GYN put me on metformin and I have been taking it for a few years now. It definitely takes some getting used this medicine but the benefits are definitely worth the trouble it takes your body to adjust to it. For starters it will help or possibly even eliminate the cysts. It's also helped me to lose weight. Also, when we made the decision to begin trying to conceive not only did my OB/GYN increase my dosage of metformin but he referred us to a fertility specialist. I only have a period on my own about once or twice a year so the fertility specialist prescribed some meds. (clomid but that made me have such bad hot flashes that he switched me to femara) to make me ovulate. I had to also have a shot of Ovidrel to help this process along. Then they preformed the IUI. My first IUI procedure didn't take so I have to go back in for a second one and will find out Friday if the femara made my follicles large enough or if I need another shot, etc... My point is there are a lot of things that can be done to get you where you need to be in order to conceive. I agree with hannah1505 in that your first priority should be to get to the point of being ready to try to conceive, eating healthy, getting enough sleep, taking vitamins, and go to a doctor to find out if it is PCOS or something else that's going on with you. If it is PCOS it's definitely manageable. Good Luck!!!!
