I also had a thin lining last month 6.5 but I think it was due to the clomid. They say it can thin out your lining. The month before it was good. They say every month is different. When I had my m/c I insisted on all kinds of blood work and what do you know I'm glad I did because they diagnosed me as having a blood clotting disorder. I also haven't had my tubes checked but I'm assuming I'm okay since I got preg. in May with no problems. Good luck to you!
Thanks, I'll tell her I want to do that also.
i kinda skimmed thru your posts...but in your last response you said your doc didnt do the HSG test (test to see if tubes are blocked)...because you had children in the past...well that doesnt matter...i had my son a few years ago and didnt have blocked tubes at that point....i had the HSG test about a month ago and i now have a blocked tube....so what i am trying to say is your body can change.....best of luck!!!
I did go one time to see an RE but it is about a 5 hr drive & ins does not pay. That was when I changed drs & took all of the orders that the RE gave me to the new dr who seems very willing to do anything I ask. She also waited until her late 30's early 40's to have children so she is very sympathetic. She did have my thyroid ckd & seems fine. I guess now that all of the test & results are back I will go back in Mon & ask some much more detailed questions including about lining & progestrone levels.
One test she did not do was were they inject the dye and check to make sure your tubes aren't blocked, she didn't think it was necessary b/c I do have 2 older children and had 3 m/c if they were blocked that would not have happened. Does that sound right?
Thank you everybody for your imput. This forum is so great because you can learn so much by what other people have gone through & I appreciate you sharing.
BTW my lining may have been thin at 36 due to lack of meds as even tho I was "treated" for thyroid, they failed to see my levels were too low for me to even have good hormonal production. D&Cs aren't helpful either. And its only this past year after reading books and boards that I became aware of the lining issue and how that could've been the reason or part of why I couldn't conceive a/thyroid tx from 36-38. At this point is surely has to be age, which is why I am finally convinced and on Injectibles.
Definitely check your last U/s. I would go into my OB for paps only, they of course didn't do any prenatal checking even tho I was past 30, childless, married. It wasn't until I had the 1st loss that they did any U/s checks but at this point I was preg and they don't measure your lining when you are preg. I lost first due to infection at 34,induced labor. Then I went in for pap again at 35 and why wasn't I conceiving, but they didn't do U/s, and referred my new diag thyroid prob to a worthless GP, as their foolish protocal (GP misdiag in Nov; severe symptoms). So I got preg again (no lining check) but now with confirmed hyperthyroid and had a d&c (which may have been begin.of lining issues). Then I was tossed around and finally after 2nd opinion w/another conventional doc (s/h/b alternative doc so I'd have more options than w/just conventional tx), I was treated, but that Endo didn't know **** about Preg so he was useless to me, when I didn't miraculously conceive after tx as they said I should. Then I waited to go to a so-called Hi Risk OB thats when I got the pre-conception U/s and he suggested clomid at 36 now, after later review of my rec's, I see he ignored that my lining w/out meds was 6.5mm at cd14 and called it normal, so technically I shouldn't have been on clomid (may have worked) due to lining (anti estrogenic effect of clomid), and age. Well sadly it wasn't until 3rd loss that I got recurr preg b/w-which showed no prob and once again U/s was post preg so they didn't check lining, that I finally was referred to an RE (all this time they ignored my age 37now). I went sluggishly (cuz I had no prob the 1st preg-I couldn't accept I had a problem) and had an HSG first. All was fine w/my tubes. But by this time I had a serious death in fam. and delayed trying again through all of 38. Started back on at 39 with an RE and thats when they check you for sure when you are on "monitored" cycles of ovulation induction via Clomid or IUI or Injectibles or IVF. They do a huge disservice to women TTC espec at mid 30's, waiting for MC to add up to 3, as the age rolls on. They are insurance minded not health minded. You have to ask for what you want despite insurance coverage. Get empowered and best of luck.
Are you seeing an RE? If not, then maybe you should consider one, that is if you can afford it or if your insurance will cover some of it. This may give you much better insight into what is going on.
My thermometer is a Walgreens brand. I am on my 2nd one of theirs, actually. The 1st one battery died after about a yr and it was cheaper to buy a new thermometer than a battery!
If you had an u/s your doc probably measured your lining. Sometimes, you just have to ask about it. My doc just tells me that everything looks good. So, for more detailed info you just have to ask.
No problem! I bet they have it at Walgreens.
I don't have a Walmart here but there is a Walgreens I'll go there tomorrow. Thanks
You could...but they're not as accurate...plus they only have one decimal instead of two. They have the BBT thermometers at most stores with a pharmacy, and they only cost about $10. I think I bought mine at Walmart. It was in the HPT/OPK section (by the vitamins and over-the-counter drugs).
;-)
thank you, atleast now I feel like I have something else to ask about.
Heather 5, I told you I was going to ask questions about charting. FF says to make sure you get a BBT thermometer but I can't seem to find one, is it OK to use one that does not say specifically BBT?
My lining seems to be ok each month. This month it was 12mm on CD15. But after IUI my RE still wants me to use progesterone suppositories.
Last month I did a projecterone test on 7DPO, and it was 7.6. So although they said I ovulated, it was a bit low for that stage of the cycle.
Found it! http://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/hormonelevels.html You probably won't need to check for all of these, at least not initially, but maybe estrogen, progesterone and FHS at least...
Then I would ask to have your hormone levels checked. There's a web site with information on what to check for and when in your cycle it has to be done. I know progesterone should be tested at 7 dpo (or CD21), and I believe estrogen on CD3...but not sure about that one. I'll see if I can find that web site for you...
I did change Drs about 2 months ago and she has done a few tests for things like chromosome abnormalities and the clomid challenge test for FSH but nothing about progesterone or lining. I have 2 DS (13 & 11) from a previous marriage so it seems both the old & new dr seem to think if I was able to do it before then everything should be fine. However I was under 30 then and I am 40 now and feel like time is running out.
Are you pregnant? Are you one meds trying to get pregnant? I wasn't on any meds, but had problems with progesterone levels in the past. I have just found out that I am pregnant and that was the first thing I was concerned about was the progesterone level so that my lining would strengthen. They can do a simple blood test and check your levels. I think there should be a normal level for a non pregnant woman just as there is one for a pregnant woman. I had mine checked yesterday and at 5 weeks pregnant my doctor likes to see it at 10, but I have a 19.5...so I'm in good shape in those regards. Have you been seeing the same doctor through all these M/C's? I don't want to sound mean, but if so, find a new one. You need a Dr. that is more attentive to your individual circumstances. Your OB/GYN should be able to give you an idea of what is going on at the very least with your hormones. Have you tried a fertility doctor?
Keep us posted, good luck.
I think your lining is commonly checked if you are on meds---Clomid or other injectables.
While doing the sonogram they can measure the lining. Ask your doctor about it, but don't hesitate to go and get a new Doctor or second opinion if you feel your not getting good communication.
Hmm! I'm not sure. My lining was checked during the three (or was it four?) months I did IUIs. But that was in conjunction with checking the follicles before O.
Anyone else?
As for your dr's appointment, I'm not sure what tests you have already done...but I'm sure they already checked your hormone levels, right?
