vanishing twin?

has anybody ever heard of vanishing twin? i'm currently waiting on my 4th beta to come back to see what's going on with me. i took another HPT today and it came back positive again however, i'm still bleeding every time i urinate! yesterday i was crampy all day. i had 2 5 day blastocysts transfered into me so i was looking up the possibilities that it might mean that i'm miscarrying one baby but still pregnant with the other and i keep coming accross women talking about vanishing twins. i just don't know if their situation pertains to me. did they go through ivf? does that matter?...

Hello , I am about to go through 3rd ivf and will put back if we get two embryos both back, with my first 2 ivf's i bled and both came away(first  a miscarriage) when i rang the clinic they asked straight away did i have two put back as i could just be losing one. I only ever put 1 back each time so knew both pregnancies were finished. So you may be losing one, my dr told me about vanishing twin syndrome but also the other embryo just gets absorbed by the placenta or "just disappears" so bleeding isnt always involved.Also bleeding is common in early pregnancy doesnt always mean miscarriage, unfortuntley it was with me, keep getting monitered if you can and I pray twins or at least one embryo survives. best wishes keep me updated, i start 3rd and final ivf in  weeks lots love melissax

Im new to this forum. Im not sure of the fertility slang. I had a vanishing twin. In my case what happened was I had 2 sacks. one had a baby in it the other one was empty. my docter told me it is common and that it would just get absorbed in the uteran wall. it did not create any complications with my pregnancy. I just finished up my first IVF cycle. I had 2 embryos graded 4-b. transfered on day 5. I just got my blood work back and im pregnate. My level was 104 and today is day 14 for me. I want to share what I did during my cycle and maybe it will help someone. I did do the acupunture before and after transfer. The day of transfer I went straight to bed and only got up to use the restroom. I layed on my back and put a pillow under my knees. I slept this way as well. I remained in this position until I had to go in for my blood work. ( about 36 hours) after my appt. I went back to bed. I did get up and do little things but did not over do it at all. Ive stayed pretty mellow up until this point. It was very hard for me because im a very active person.one other thing that I did was prayed almost every second and I did keep my hands on my bare belly skin to skin. it couldnt hurt;);) I was out shopping before i started the IVF and  found a little clear rock and inside it was a cross that had the word believe acrossed it. I felt an overwhelming urge to buy it, I brought it with me to my retreval appt and also brought it with me to my transfer I held it tight in my hand. Today I brought it with me for my pregnancy blood test and I got great news!!!!!  its not the rock the has the power it just symbolizes Gods word. if anyone wants to try it and see if it brings you luck please let me know and i will mail it to you. i know it sounds crazy but, IVf makes us go crazy so what do you have to lose. the best of luck to you all!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,  thats is nice and i am so happy for your good fortune and being so positive.

In my case, I  have 2 neg IVF and I did the same  as reccomended it for the doctor acupunture before and after in the same clinic in NYC ( very pricy by the way)...resting, having the time of my life, my hubby got me everything that is asked for it...i was a queen..lol

I have great 4 embryos and the doctor was 100% positive, the problem is they didnt attach to the uterus and thats is nature.


My friend did the same  IVF and went to work the next day, went ot the gym jus to walk and she have a 2 years baby today.

Doctors can help you with the eggs + the sperm...= embryos   but at the end its just nature..!

Dont give up!!! Stay strong mind over matter. It will happen. Have faith. question, i know some docters have different techique. when did he start you on progestrone? My docter started me the next day after retrieval? 3rd time's a charm:);) Believe!!!

With my son I got pregnant with twins, but one stopped growing. I did not have any bleeding or spotting. My body just reabsorbed it. My doctor did tell me after my U/S that I may start bleeding. She said not to worry if that happens.
I hope you had vanishing twin and one of them is holding on very strong.
