I use buserelin. I've had a problem ovulating outside of the times of the hcg trigger. For one of my IUIs, I ovulated before the trigger. I told the nurse but she reassured me it could not happen, but it did. For the second IUI, I didn't ovulate until over a day after my IUI. I was on 40iu buserelin. I'm now trying IVF. After a couple of weeks of using buserelin, in conjuction with the pill, I normally wait until I get a small bleed a few days after coming off the pill, then a 'down regulation' blood test is done, to make sure my system is down. If it's not, another blood test is done in a few days. I use puregon for FSH, and once I start that, the buserelin is normally lowered to 20iu, but this cycle, because of my worries about ovulating too soon, my RE is keeping me on 40iu right through.
Good Luck!
I'm not really familar with buserelin. Here in the US, they tend to use lupron to suppress the ovaries, but I'm sure the buserin injections are similar to lupron injections. I don't think there are any signs that would tell you whether or not it's working...other than having a ultrasound...but I have a feeling the injections would be stronger than the nasal sprays, so hopefully all will look good at your next appointment. Best of luck with your IVF cycle!
