when does normal period begin after a D&C

hey ladies...

im just wondering....does anybody have an idea how soon i should get my normal period after my D&C?

i had the D&C 3/3 @ 15 weeks preg and i read online that when a women is further in preg and has to undergo a D&C it is easier for her to get preg the first 3 months following the D&C procedure....im just trying to figure out when my body will return to normal so i can get an idea on my cycles to start pinpointing my ovulation days

its seems like forever to me but i know i must be patient

My RE told me that I would get AF within 4-6 weeks and then I could start trying again.  AF came in 7.5 weeks.  When I went to see her, she said that I could have come in at 5 weeks and gotten some provera to bring on AF and not waste time....

I had a D and C on Feb. 29th and they are checking my HCG to make sure it returns to 0.  My OB never checked them and they took forever to go down.  It's good that they are giving you a Beta to check....I wish you the best!

I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss. How are you doing?

I had a D&E on August 3rd at 20 weeks. My OB said not to TTC for 3 months after the procedure as it is very dangerous for a potential fetus. Your body is not ready for another pregnancy after what it's been through and what it's still going through.

My periods have been totally wacky for the last 7 months. I got my first AF just a couple of weeks after the surgery. Since then it's been incredibly heavy and looooong. My period used to last only 4 days and was relatively light. Now I bleed right through my clothes and it lasts for 7-8 days. So annoying!

Please ask your doctor when you can TTC again before trying. I'm sending you truckloads of SSBD!!! Did you get it???

ladies you give me hope.... and im glad for that

i read online that after a D&C your HCG levels drop pretty quickly because everything has been removed so it should only take 1-2 weeks to get back to 0

i called my doc and asked if they are going to check my HCG levels and if they knew what they were while i was in the hospital after my D&C and they told me i will get a preg test next thurs and if its positive they will test my HCG if its neg than im back at zero

ive started charting my temps and im gonig to try to catch my ovulation but i think i may wait one cycle to get a grasp on what my cycles will be....but if i catch O this cycle and get preg ill run with it...ive learned there are things that are out of my hands and what is intended to be will be

I had to have a D&C (7wks) November 7th last year.  My doctor said that if my cycle was "regular", to expect my first AF in 4-6 weeks.  Mine came right at 4 weeks and was back on a fairly regular track.  I got my BFP two days ago.  Best wishes!!

I miscarried on 2/26, the very day my RE said I was going to m/c due to no heartbeat after my first u/s. I was 6w4d.  I went in yesterday and I am now down to 0! It was a natural m/c however.

I totally understand! I was the same way.

Come to think of it, my doctor didn't monitor my levels after my D&C either. Only after the natural miscarriage. I think it's because with a D&C, they go in and remove everything, while with a natural miscarriage, they won't know for sure if all the tissue has passed unless they monitor your levels to make sure they go back down. You could probably still ask your doctor for one, though.

I am so sorry for your loss, waitn838 :-(

You should ovulate again shortly after your HCG gets back down below 5, and then get your period about 14 days after that. Is your doctor monitoring your HCG levels? If he/she is, that should give you a pretty good indication on when to expect your next ovulation.

I've had two miscarriages, one required a D&C (stopped developing at 8 weeks) and one was a natural miscarriage at 6 1/2 weeks. After both, I was only a few days off from my normal schedule. I only charted during my second miscarriage, so I'm not 100% sure when I ovulated after my first, but after the second, I ovulated again 16 days later. However, I was not as far along as you, so it could definitely take a little longer for your HCG to get back down.

I hope you get pregnant again soon and carry to term next time around!

Take care!

I do  not have an answer for you..I guess first the hormone HCG have to get back to normal and then you get your period.
The question is how long from the beta 0 to the perido.
After a D&C at 7 weeks my beta dropped from 10.000 to 19 but no sign of AF yet.
I hope you are feeling a little better.
Hugs,
Miky
