2nd cycle of Clomid in the same month

My OB/GYN prescribed me Clomid after my last appt.  He ordered 25mg on day 5-10.  On May 7th I had light spotting but no menstrual symptoms like I usually do.  By the next day the bleeding/spotting was gone.  I wan't sure if I should consider the light spotting my menstrual cycle and contemplated starting the clomid on day 5.  I went ahead and took the 25mg on day 5-10, and on day 10 (which is today) I started feeling crampy and low and behold I got my "real" period.  It is lighter than usual, but my periods are very weird and irregular.  My question is:  Do I start the Clomid cycle on day 5 again even though its the same month?  Is it safe?  Thanks for your expertise.

If you were my patient, I would tell you first to take a pregnancy test before doing anything else.  I would also tell you NOT to take the Clomid again.  If you took Clomid on cycle day 5-10, you should check for ovulation on cycle day 13-18 with ovulation predictors.  I would check on those days even though you did get a period on day 5.
I would also check a progesterone level on cycle day 23 or so.
If there is no evidence that you ovulated on this dose, I would re-think the next cycle at that point.
If you are pregnant, I wouldn' t need to do any of this stuff, so check that first!
