Abnormal Chromosomes

by Rach0830, Dec 06, 2007 12:00AM
I found out not to long ago that both of the chromosomes that metabolize folic acid are abnormal. What are some options to help this? Is there anything I can do to have a successful pregnancy?

Dear Rach0830-

Even with both enzymes being abnormal, unless your homocysteine level in your blood is elevated, this abnormality is unlikely to hinder a successful pregnancy. Having said that, the treatment is high dose folic acid, in th range of 4 mg/d.

It would be a good idea to get your homocysteine level checked while fasting.
