Birth control and possibility of pregnancy

I had a medical abortion about two and half months ago. However, the doctor did not start me on birth control pills (Orthocylene) until about 2 and half weeks after the abortion procedure to ensure that the procedure had worked. During the first cycle of pills, I experienced abdominal cramping, nausea, and breakthrought bleeding. My period came in the 4th week but only lasted about 2 days (shorter than normal). During the second cycle of pills, the side effects seemed to disappear. My period came at the end of the 3rd week and lasted about a week, but it was extremely light. I just finished the second cycle of pills last night, and for the past couple of days, I have been experiencing abdominal cramps and queeziness/nausea. I have used condoms in addition to the pills everytime I've had sex since the abortion, but I'm afraid I might be pregnant again. I've taken two home pregnancy tests, both of which were negative, but the abdominal cramping and nausea (and the fact that my period was so light) really concern me. Is it possible I might be pregnant again? What should I do?

It is very unlikely that you are pregnant again. Menstrual periods that women get while on the birth control pill are commonly very light, much lighter in flow than a normal perio.d. Home pregnancy tests are VERY accurrate and believable. I would suggest that you get a blood pregnancy test, just to reassure you that you are not pregnant. I think that the queaziness and cramps are unrelated to your period, and not a sign of pregnancy. Sometimes the pill can cause a bit of nausea for the first 2-3 months until your body acclimates. Also, it could be a flu-like illness causing the nausea.
