CLOMED OR NO CLOMED? WHEN IS ENOUGH?

Hi. my husband & I have been trying to conceive for about 4y now. he is checked out and okay. I had uterine fibroids removed and good to go per my doctor.  I was on clomid about a year ago and did 4 cycles with no success even though I was having good response. and this time with a new fertility specialist, 2 cycles of clomid + IUI had failed.  Someone told me that she had similar experience like me and as soon as she was off the clomid, she got pregnant! should I try my next cycle without anything?  When should I move onto IVF?

I usually recommend clomid with IUI 4 times then I move to re-evaluating, further diagnostic testing or more aggressive treatment. This is based on the research that showed ANOVULATORY women taking clomid to ovulate with the addtion of IUI, 80% concieve after 3 to 4 cyles.

I've read some posts from gals who got pregnant AFTER getting off of Clomid.  I wonder if it has to do with quality of the follicles OR the way it affects CM  So when you get off the drug, it still triggers something in your body to ovulate, but maybe without the other repurcussions above.

Clomid decreases your fertile cervical mucus which can have negative effects on TTC.  Before you move onto IVF have you thought of doing injectables?
