Chronically high progesterone

Chronically high progesterone

I am 28 years old and have been experiencing anovulation. After extensive testing I was diagnosed with 21-hydroxylase deficiency.  I have chronically high progesterone (ranging from 3-40). I was started on dexamethasone and have had success with reducing progesterone. The problem is now I am in adrenal suppression with morning cortisol >.1.  I have been lowering my dose of dex but have not seen much improvement in improvement in cortisol levels.

Has anyone had similar problems?  Are there any medical experts in the country that are experienced in this that can offer recommendations?

Thanks,
Extremely frustrated

Hi!
A reproductive endocrinologist should be able to work with you.  There are MANY in each major city and even in some smaller centers.
21-hydroxylase deficiency is not terribly uncommon, so you should be able to get help!
Good luck!

I have been working with a reproductive endocrinologist and that is how ive started the Dex. Itsjust that they can't seem to find the right dose for me and im starting to get concerned ro chronically be on steroids.  I know long term steroid use is not good.  I wonder if there's any other drug?
