Clomid & blocked tube

Clomid & blocked tube

Hi. I am a 37 year-old mother of a 3 year old (got pregnant on 1st try). I had an ectopic pregnancy about 1 year later and although my tube was "saved", a HSG later revealed that the tube is now blocked. My left one is permeable and seems fine. We have been trying to conceive naturally for over 1 year since the ectopic. I am currently on my first month of Clomid (100mg) although I have never had any ovulation issues, always been regular and normal periods.

We tried IVF and although 2 healthy embies were put back, we didn't get pregnant.

Do you think that Clomid is the right option for me? Is 2 x 50mg daily the normal starting dose? Could I be a good candidate for IUIs?

Thank you for any advise you can give me!

If your periods are regular, I do not think clomid by itself is the best choice. Unless you are not ovulating regularly, clomid by itself is at best minimally effective. Clomid combined with IUI is more effective, injections with IUI more effective still. The best choice though is IVF - the chances of one cycle of IVF being successful at age 37 are probably about 25% - if you had two good quality embryos your best choice is probably to do IVF again.
