Clomid Success one cycle and not the next?

I have PCOS. Not really traditional because all I have is bad acne and annovulatory cycles.  I have been on Clomid for 4 cycles now. We started out at 50mg, no ovulation.  We went to 100mgs, no ovulation. We went to 150mgs and BINGO! Ovulation.  (along with many other alternative things I do - as well as being treated for a vitamin deficiency (it's called Pyrolurria))  So last cycle I o'd on cd 16.  This cycle I decided to stay with the clomid since it obviously worked last cycle.  I am on CD 19 this cycle and so far nothing.  No EWCM ( Inver have had any good EWCM). No temp shift nothing.  The only good thing is that my cervical position is high and open.  My question is: is this possible that Clomid worked the one cycle and not the next?  Or am I getting to anxious and need to wait to see if if I really do ovulate?  Can It happen later than the first cycle?

Dear analynn79 - it is not that unusual for clomid to work one month and then not the next. There are several ways to determine if you are ovulating. The most accurate is to get a blood test for a hormone called progesterone, which is elevated in the blood after ovulation. A progesterone drawn on days 21,22, or 23, if elevated, shows that you ovulated on clomid this month. If it is low, then you would probably want to bring on a period with provera, then try clomid at the 200 mg dose. Down the road, if clomid doesn't work, either fertility injection drugs or a pill called letrozole can be sonsidered.

I don't have any answers for you.  But I was wondering what do you mean your cervical postion is high and open?  I'm still learning everything about the PCOS and infertility issues and I hadn't heard of this terminology....

I'm starting the Clomid this month and am really exctied but also apprehensive.  I don't want to get my hopes up.  How did you know that you had ovulated?  I am annovulatory also....and I never know when I ovulate or when I don't.....any response would be helpful.  Sorry I can't help you.  :o(
