Clomid when to start is my doctor wrong.

by foxy511, Jan 20, 2008 12:00AM
Hi, I am 28 Years old and I was told by my doctor to start Clomid on my day 8 of my cycle. Now when I go on line and check different site I read that most women were told to take the first pill on day 3 or 5. My question is. Is my Doctor wrong and made a mistake or is it going to work even if I started on day 8 of cycle? And if it does work on what day will I have my Ovulation? My cycles has always been diffrent example 25 days up to 60 days.
Thanks

You should not start on day 8. You are correct that you should start on day 3,4, or 5. Are you seeing an infertility specialist?

Yes I am....  But I will change to an other doctor.  I only started so this was my first cycle on clomid.  What would it do now that I have took all my five pills?  On my next cycle I will start on day 5.

Maybe it was my mistake but I am sure he tole me day 8 so I will call him ASAP tomorrow morning.  Now I am kind of scared it will affect my cycle even more.

Hi!  I read your comments earlier and the doc's!  Interesting!  Know that you are not alone!  I am in a similar situation.  Unfortuantely, I should have been OB/GYN!  Anyway, I would probably say to call your doctor and see what he says to you.  Tell him that you want to start on Day 5!  If your periods are so random, like mine, my doc told me Day 5!

I didn't have my period for 6 years.  My choice and the doc's advice.  So, after being on Lupron for so long, I am ready for menopause later on in life.  HaHa!  So, he gave me provera to INDUCE my period, can you believe they can do those things?  WOW!  And so i took it for 7 days and then the next day, I started to spot!  So, I was advised my the doc to take the CLOMID DAYS 5-9, I should be ovulating around Day 18.  He did tell me to take a pregnancy test before I start it to make sure, and when I take my clomid tomorrow afternoon, I should go buy an OVULATION KIT!  Ok, so i bought it.  The nurse told me to buy it ahead of time and make sure I understand exactly what to do!

I hope this helps you out!  Your first cycle of clomid is probably 50mg, they can take it all the way up to 250mg.  They up it everytime.  So, first cycle is 50mg, then second cycle is 100mg, and so on.  But, they told me to quit smoking and stop drinking coffee and pop!  Well, I start my clomid tomorrow and I will be getting the ovulation kit too!  Do the same thing!

If you are truly doubting your doctor, SWITCH!  You both have to be comfortable and on the same page.  Always ask 1 million questions!
